Yeah, doing a five quad program without a new quad is not really worth it point wise. It is only an around two point increase since he would have to remove a 3A. Unless he does 4Lo-combo, but a 4Lo-combo is supposed to be really difficult from what I've heard so I don't think it is very likely. However if he manages to do
3A3Lo he would get a significant BV-raise even without a new quad. The BV this season was about 103,43, if he exchanges the 3A2T combo (9,80
without second-half bonus, 10,78 with) for 3A3Lo (13,60, with bonus: 14,96) his BV would be around 107,61. To put in into perspective Chen's 6 quad program at Worlds had a BV at around 112.
So if he is not adding a quad, I think it would be better to either keep his current layout and focus on going clean and getting crazy high GOEs (as he has the ability to do

), cause doing five quads with one 3A is not really worth the risk due to the very small BV increase and since it is probably harder to get better GOE on a 4T-Lo-3S combo than his 3A-Lo-3S. Keeping is current layout does however put him in a disadvantage BV wise, especially since Jin, Chen and Uno seem all to want to add one quad each. So there is no room for error at all, his layout now is also risky due to the risk of Zayak. So if he has the capability I would find it pretty worthwhile for him to try to do 3A3Lo (unless of course he adds the 4Lz). He is a
great axel and loop jumper (and generally edge-jumper). He has of course though basically never done -2Lo or -3Lo combos, he
did however try some out at the GPF16 gala - so you never know. It doesn't seem very likely though, I don't think 3A3Lo has ever been done in competition (recently someone uploaded a fully rotated one on instagram/twitter):
https://www.instagram.com/p/BSgJGV1FhF9/. There is already as people have pointed out, big risk with the hips with -Lo combos and it is risky since it is easy to underrotate such combos and therefore get really low GOE.
I think he is probably going to go for the 4Lz, Max Ambesi a k a Yuzuru's biggest sport commentator fan (who also seems to have a spy at TCC) is pretty convinced he is going to bring it next season. It is all about success-rate I'm sure. Around 4CC the 4Lz success rate was supposed to be around 60% - however that does not tell us if he is simply landing the jump itself 60% of the time or if that is in the context of a run-through. His attempt at WTT looked great though, yes only 1/9 but it was the end of the season and more importantly his set-up was pretty short, which hopefully indicates that he has a pretty good grasp of it
Sorry for long post
I just get excited
