2017 GP Skate Canada Ladies SP

If Pogo withdraws, who will replace and is it too late?

Stop being pessimist ... I want to see her LP ... I want to be positive person about Pogo ... Do you ever wonder if the russian federation will let her drop? even if she do a bad program she can difficult the qualification of other skaters ... or for them to trust her for the olympics she need to show that she can work under pression ... and I don't think her drop out means that the russian federation will decide who will replace her ...

I don't know the correct answer to your question but when gracie gold drop ( I think you will find the answer their) out I think n the thread had mention that is based on a list and depends of the numbers of participants of a country ... for example canadian have 3 skaters on the GP ... will never be a canadian skater e... but in JGP circuit RF substitute them at last minute so ... I don't Know

I hope she participates but only
only if her health is @ 100%! thats what matters in the long run

Rooting for Rika Hongo here (and everyone else of course)! :cheer: I hope she's recovered from her injuries enough to produce a good performance, as her skate at the Ondrej Nepela Trophy was quite good. Love both of her programs (especially the LP  ).

I can't help but root for her, it just feels like she's the red-headed step child among the Japanese ladies. I'm sure that skating with the injury last season with the results that she got didn't really boost her self-confidence, and the "love" she got from the judges didn't help either, but I hope that she pulls trough and manages to surprise everyone! :hap10:

I'm not russian so I have no idea. She's pretty elusive on her social media channels, too. Idk. It's all a big mystery at this point. Well, in 5 days we know what it's all about. I would be happy if she finishes above Maria here, everything else would be a bonus.

Fingers crossed for Pogo!

This is one of the least exciting lineups for me. Mostly looking forward to seeing Honda, I guess. And I also hope that Sotskova will win.

I have no idea where to put Ashley Wagner in the prediction game. The earlier Grand Prix's are always so hard to predict, because there is no guideline if one doesn't know the form of a skater. Ashley has the goods to win this or be end up 7th or something. This is hard.

This entire event (not only the ladies discipline) is ridiculously stacked. Anna, Maria, Kaetlyn, Ashley, Marin are all in the hunt for gold. Karen could medal as well. And don't even get me started on the pairs!

Yeah I'm a Rika fan too. I wonder if she's now coachless or is working with someone else. GO Ashley and Karen.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot :eeking: She probably has other people coaching her as well, but I imagine that the retirement of her main coach must have been quite a blow.

This won't be a gimme for Osmond. The U.S. ladies are coming with the A team, not to mention Pogorylaya and Honda.

SC is always a gimmee for Osmond as long as Medvedeva isn't on the entry list. She has an adoring audience on her side ready for her standing ovation. That never fails to sway the judges.

Karen changed her music to Slow dancing in big city. Choreo by herself

Out of curiosity, perhaps it's the Nathan Laast Mao Dancer effect, I checked out Karen's "Slow Dancing" score and film snippets, and I think she is making a mistake. The film is quite awful, weak, and the protagonist with her leg issues comes across as unconvincing. I get that Carmen isn't the most original program, but she needs to replace it with a character that is equally strong and compelling.

I wonder why oh why she doesn't pick the theme from "Lust, Caution" by Desplat, The Angel, it's hauntingly beautiful and waiting for the right tragic heroine skater.

The rest of the soundtrack is beautiful too,

Plus Ang Lee is a Taiwanese-American director, like Karen.
