Short
Because most brightly, in the short already, shone Shoma Uno from Japan. An awesome short, an awesome competition all in all, that Shoma delivered here in Canada. Only Yuzuru Hanyu, his fellow country man ever reached higher points than Shomo (sic!) Uno. 103.62 points in the short only! Faultless! Outstanding! I believe with this short Shoma gifted Patrick Chan a sleepless Night and showed the Canadian, that this year might actually be the year that will be different, than most people think. Even Yuzuru Hanyu last week in Moscow couldn't keep up with the performance Shoma Uno delivered here. 103,62 points, almost 10 points more than Patrick Chan and that only in the short program!
Long
And this, dear audience, is the man that entrances us into storms of enthusiasm, there is no question! Let's watch this calmly! Shoma Uno from Japan who is storming from one top performance to the next here. Only Yuzuru Hanyu, his country man has ever reached that high of a score in the short, or in the long or alltogether. A firework of quadruple jumps. The great thing about Shoma Uno is, that his quadruples are not at the beginning of the program, alas the hard stuff is done now, no, no, he's building his long program around them. With Music from...the last opera of Giacomo Puccini Turandot.
Easy as you like, the Loop!
I think this was the only insecurity of the whole program..
..na, there was another insecurity. Yes, you cannot really think about it, he wasn't even perfect.
These are triple axels to savour!
For a change it's not Luciano Pavarotti but Jose Carreras.
Well, that was the little fault I mentioned earlier, the quadruple toeloop, but seriously when does he jump that one? After two thirds of his long program.
A little japanese with the mission to attack: Shoma Uno. If he shows this long program at the Olympic Games, without mistakes, then Javier Fernandez, and possibly even Yuzuru Hanyu, yes, his colleagues will make big, big eyes and long faces. Shoma Uno really was convincing here in Canada. And that even with mistakes. 301.10 points at the end.
