I also want to give this emoji :/ to all the speculation that the Russian fed would have her skate in the SP only to withdraw her during it or after to prevent the first alternate from competing. Like cmon people? That would be basically painting a huge HATE ME on their backs and I believe that they do want more skating to be seen by everyone.

Smart move on her part. Why skate and risk a real broken foot and the end of her Olympic dreams for another GPF gold medal which she already has two?
Ankle? I thought it was the foot (metatarsal bone)?Aw.. I think it's the right decision. You can not force recovery on ankle related fractures.
The problem is she already skated being injured at two competitions, had she skipped GPs she would have been healed by now, as it was relatively minor injury to start with. I wish skaters and their teams were more careful.
Speedy recovery to Evgenia!

I feel sad and relieved at the same time. I was afraid she'll skate injured. She made a right decision.
This opens the Olympic Gold race. Zagitova will have her chance to score high next week!
Glad she isn't skating injured, but also super bummed that we'll probably see Alina easily walk away with the GPF title.

I don't agree with this one. I think everyone can win there, may be except Sotskova, because they all scored 210+ in the current season. Actually now it's becoming very similar to what we are going to have in juniors - a very small difference in scores between 4-5 contenders.
I wonder if this puts more pressure on Alina or gives here a peace of mind.
