Junhwan Cha

Good job Junhwan on his first senior competition! Of course it didn't go as we would have liked it to, but in his current condition and that strict af panel, I think it's the best we could hope for.:hap10: Proud of him for getting through without a disaster like the first selection event, not letting Brian being in the hospital totally get to him, and coming back after that injury and boot problems. Hopefully he'll do better in SA since it's a month away and get those darn rotations in!!:agree:

Also a side note and a small somewhat guilty confession, but I half-wish he stayed as a junior. He could have easily dominated and set himself up to have a really good senior debut, but of course...home Olympics and I understand he wants to be in front of that crowd and I bet the fed is pushing him too.:noshake: I have a feeling that if the Olympics weren't at home, he would have just stayed a junior. But then again, JGP was almost right after the selection competition and he was in no state to do 2 competitions like that. Well, anyway, he did what he could and I was thrilled to see him skating again!! The camerawork at SC was really bad though like in the SP where they didn't get a good angle of his ina bauer into a spread eagle.

Agree; in his current state(he probably hasn't been doing the quad since his injury for very long), we couldn't have expected better. I hope his hip and ankle will feel more comfortable soon to really go for his jumps. It's clear the pain was affecting them and his overall energy level.

I have the same feeling as well, if it’s not Oly at home, he could take time to develop his reputation in the Junior Circuit and have a solid foundation in presentation. (apparently reputation is very important in current PCS scoring system :sarcasm:)

But now that he is in Senior Circuit, I hope he understands it’s going to be hard for the first senior season, don’t feel defeated and look further into the future of his career. Looking forward to see him again at Skate America. :luv17:

I'm crying, he would dominate Junior Circuit this year  But it is how it is. I'm sure he's happy to have Oly at home tbh There's pressure ofc but this is all athletes' dream. Can't wait for SA!

Not really...like Kara said, he wouldn't even have been able to skate the jgp at all due to his injury, so... there's not much to be sad about aside from the fact that he's been physically in pain. At least he gets to compete before olympics/championships.

GOnna lay down and cry. Junhwan withdrew out of SA because of his injuries...Going to Korea on the 22nd to concentrate on the qualifying competition for the Olympics...He is destroying himself trying to go..:sad21::cry: SO depressed.....I think unless more people withdraw and USF decides to invite an Australian skater to SA, Korea's spot in the team event is pretty much secured, but I'm just really depressed. All the front runners are injured.

why are all my faves injured?!?!

rest well, Cha! Snatch that Olympic spot healthily :ghug:

:sad21: i was so depressed when heard the news of his withdrawal today... The last 2 months was not enough for him to rest well and fully recover. At this point I really hope this withdrawal is a strategic move, just to buy him more time for the Korean Oly spot selection.

Ugh, he should've withdrawn from SC to begin with... hope he recovers fully and quickly. The men's field is depressing me so much this season...

I truly believe he will overcome his health problems till the national OG qualifications. I even can't imagine we wouldn't see him in Pyeong Chang...

Jun’s practice day 1 for Korean ranking competition :luv17:
After large part of this dramatic and traumatise GP season, I felt simply contented to see his skating on ice.

he looks a lot better than i expected!! :hap93: good luck Jun :yahoo:
btw did he have ina bauer into 3A earlier in the season?? it looks better and shorter than his usual entry

Omg yes I'm so shook that he's not stalking his 3A as much. Looks like they went back to his JGPF layout with only 1 4S and no crazy 3A-1lo-3S combo. Do your best Junhwan!!!!

Glad he's back to the 1 quad layout. Again, he's only 16 and there will be plenty of time next season to do multiple quads when he's not so injured. Good luck!

Well, it's pretty much confirmed that he won't be going to olympics. There's still nationals, but he'll have to score about 28 points higher than june hyoung, and I don't see that happening this season. It may be disappointing as his talent is evident and he's age eligible, but personally I'm not so crushed because he's so young- at 16, it's hardly the end of the world. I think it'll be great if he can take some pressure off himself, recover and skate well at junior worlds(please tell me he's going? unless he miraculously makes it to olys ofc...) and maybe senior worlds.

The 2 falls at the beginning of the Free was very costly... :sad14:

But at the end of the day, debut season is not easy (look at Dmitri Alive)
He will be down and I hope he will be ok very soon. Maybe go to 4CC and try to get on the podium, try to catch some points for this season when the big boys are all focusing on Oly.

Jun, you have it in you, just keep working, we will be supporting you. :hap10:

Bad news: very probably no Oly this time.
Good news: better scores than at Skate Canada, better physical condition, three beautiful programs (including his EX, I missed the Wonderful World :)). And more time for recovering, without this strong pressure he must have felt in the beginning of the season. And  his Ina Bauer duo with Alexander in gala exhibition finale  Such a fun!

Why no oly though ? I thought he is recovering ?

He has a 30 point deficit from Junehyoung. It's all due to KSU's stupid decision of having domestic competitions matter towards OG selection rather than letting ALL their skaters breathe and train properly. I am still facepalming as to how Dabin and Soyoun and basically everyone got all of their training and rehabilitation derailed due to this.
