Junhwan Cha

JUNHWAN HAS CHANGED HIS SP TO GYPSY DANCE. lul time to quadruple my anxiety about Skate Canada now.:drama:

k I'm sorry but I'm just kind of WHAT right now. He was injured...then decides yolo new SP. I really liked the Wonderful World step sequence though I don't like the song, but it's not like I'm a fan of Gypsy dance either. I worry about cosmetic issues like his hair only to be blindsided like this. Why must all my faves do this to me?:drama:

I was not feeling his short, so I'm happy he changed it, I'm not fan of new music either lol But can't wait to see it.

sp runthrough: 4s(looked ur to me, and jackie wong calls it as such too), 3lz-3t, 3a. Honestly quite good jumps-wise considering his near-3 months off with injury. Hope he can get the quad around. Confession: I love the program, possibly more than his old one(cause one republic cover of WAWW- meh).

The quad attempts being UR/fall are pretty much a given with his current physical condition, but other than that, I'm surprised at how good he looks. Almost thought the 3a or 3-3 weren't gonna happen.

Hmm, I'm not feeling the choreography. Hopefully, I will like this more with actual performance.

I think this is about to become my guilty pleasure program where my head is like could be better but my heart is like Jun :luv17: This cut of Gypsy dance isn't too bad actually and obviously I like it so much more than the One Republic cover of WAWW. The memorable part for me at the moment is the ina bauer into spread eagle which I really really like how it goes with the music. Leg lunges with little kicks were good too. RIP the intense twizzles from his WAWW program though.:sad21: And is it just me or does his 3A look better from before he was injured lol? I:m so glad he seems healthy though!! He looks thinner (and taller :hopelessness:) but I'm so happy to see him skating.:sad4: Stay healthy and smile, that's all I ask!!

his SP run-through

Still a bit unsure of what I feel about this but I'm in the same boat as s_parks.....
It is better than his WAWW

I am too not sure about how I feel about the short program... put on the costume and I will feel it again (lol)
Kara, I also have the impression that his 3A improved compare to before.
Him looking health is a great relief :)

He must be disappointed with the score and the performance, he lose quite a bit of technical score at the technical panel, esp the downgraded 4S...
Although I have to agree with the judges about the PCS, I feel like he needs higher energy level to skate this program and be more expressive. A lot of hand movements were not for presentation and solely for jump preparation, that cut back some of its time to show off the artistic side of the program.
I hope he look at it as a lesson, don’t feel defeated and skate the free program tomorrow with fresh state of mind. Fighting! :cheer:

It'll be tough in the fs with his current condition, but I just hope he's not in too much pain and gives a great performance. Love this program.

Good job Junhwan on his first senior competition! Of course it didn't go as we would have liked it to, but in his current condition and that strict af panel, I think it's the best we could hope for.:hap10: Proud of him for getting through without a disaster like the first selection event, not letting Brian being in the hospital totally get to him, and coming back after that injury and boot problems. Hopefully he'll do better in SA since it's a month away and get those darn rotations in!!:agree:

Also a side note and a small somewhat guilty confession, but I half-wish he stayed as a junior. He could have easily dominated and set himself up to have a really good senior debut, but of course...home Olympics and I understand he wants to be in front of that crowd and I bet the fed is pushing him too.:noshake: I have a feeling that if the Olympics weren't at home, he would have just stayed a junior. But then again, JGP was almost right after the selection competition and he was in no state to do 2 competitions like that. Well, anyway, he did what he could and I was thrilled to see him skating again!! The camerawork at SC was really bad though like in the SP where they didn't get a good angle of his ina bauer into a spread eagle.
