2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

So, 5 top medals for 5 skaters. Who would doubt that with Medvedeva it would be 6 out of 6?

Where is skater boy who regularly over the last several years professes concerns about the state of Russian ladies? I think the state just cannot be better.

The biggest event is coming - Russian Nationals in St.Petersburg! Just 2 weeks left. We are going with my wife leaving our kids with the granny in Moscow. Live reports are due!

Don't forget your laptop this time! And make sure there is a hotel with good internet!

I think that there is legitimate reason for concern regarding the future. This current junior age group with Trusova, Tarakanova, Shcherbakova, Kostornaya and co. is likely the strongest ever, but after that it's very very quiet until 2020 junior class. Unless another Zagitova/Kostornaya-like case appears(Where she manages to vastly improve her performance in a single season), some rougher years might be ahead depending on how puberty is handled.

After all four of these graduate to seniors in 2019-2020, I'm not even sure who's supposed to be participating in JGP that season.

Both junior and senior Russian ladies were really good in GPF. :agree: So now we only have to wait if they do as good (or better) in the other upcoming big events. I fully expect them to fully bring it everywhere.

Another calm before the storm. But this time before the amazing storm. I'm still waiting the official announcement about participants, the confirmation about Trusova's and Tarakanova's WD/or not, and news about WD/or not, of Evgenia and Anna.

We need a cool videomaker to make a sensational video-preview of the Russian Nationals 2018. Like this or this.

Undino, Imagine, we need your supervideomaking power! I mean, I could do this, but I hate Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere or whatever. Just very scary programs.

And this music will be very cool for it.
Oh I definitely could make a hype video like that although my video editing skills are relatively basic.

Speaking of which, what is the min. age for Russian junior nationals? Gubanova was there at 11 years of age, isn't that right?

That would be great. I will try too, but I'm not sure about success of this. That music also could be a good choice.

I can recall I saw 12 yo Medvedeva there. Cute program, by the way. I liked it.

I'm sure at least one of these girls could repeat Zagitova's case:

2005
Alena Kanysheva ⭐⭐⭐
Anna Frolova ⭐⭐⭐
Sofia Moroz ⭐⭐⭐
Anfisa Ryabova ⭐⭐⭐
Kseniya Chistyakova ⭐
Alina Gorina ⭐

2006
Kamila Valieva ⭐⭐⭐
Maya Khromykh ⭐⭐⭐
Daria Usacheva ⭐⭐⭐
Yana Liventseva ⭐⭐⭐
Sofia Muravyova ⭐⭐⭐
Nikol Vaitkus ⭐

If they will move to Eteri, of course. Especially I hope Valieva will do it.

Oh my goodness the amount of cuteness in that video is too much for me to handle!!
What adorable girls! Mama Eteri should be very proud! I love how the camerman held up his badge as if it were a medal to get them to understand :) These girls are amazing and I love them as if I were their coach somehow? Also them at the end, they're so amazing and incredible, and agh I can't deal with it.

Maria Sotskova has just crushed Radionova, Tsurskaya and Tuktamysheva's Olympic hopes. Congratulations, I guess. :rolleye::)

She has beaten Julia's record by mere 18 days. :angry2:

Valieva is struggling lately.
I think Shayuki is right about the gap, still for sure big wave of 4-6yo girls brought to the skating schools after Sochi 2014 must have some diamonds in their ranks, if only for quantity reasons.

I heard of a rule that the top 2 at the Russian Nationals get to the national team in the Worlds and Olympics, while the 3rd spot is a wildcard. If Evgenia misses the Nationals, then any of the mentioned ladies can get the 2nd place and the ticket to the Worlds.

They waited until after Euros to announce the Olympic/Worlds team prior to Sochi.

I’m wondering if they actually make her jumps higher. Because she had a UR problem last season and it seems to be mostly fixed now.
nah it's not fixed yet. She does get less UR in general compared to last season but only slight improvement i'd say. TP is overlooking her few UR like in IdF. When she faced with stricter TP like in SC she does get them called notably solo 3Lz, 3S in combo and 2A is what she needs to work on, hopefully she can really lost that UR. I haven't watch her GPF FS so idk if she actually URed or not.
