The Russian Fed likes Kostornaya very much, otherwise she wouldn't receive these scores in internal competitions.... but she won't be senior eligible next year.

She doesn't though, it's why she lost JGPF. Trusova outscored her on PCS in the SP, and the difference was very small in the FS. This type of pushing down in Nationals are not going to help that.

It doesn't matter she's not senior eligible next season. Not when you have this type of star potential on your hands. You do not play games with her, and push her scores down to give room to the likes of Konstantinova. It's dumb and shows they don't know what they have in Kostornaya.

try watching it and you might get it. Hint: the fall didnt only impact the fall itself.

It says you shouldn't give a 10. Of course none of them are getting 10s (usually only top 2-3 senior ladies/men/pairs and top 4-5 Ice dance do).
But I watch GPF and to be honest Alena does have the superior skating. Plus her program was flawless IRRC. I did think at the time she should have won.

Naturally, especially when not your favorite = that skater who takes a better place than your favorite is the one falling. If it the darling of the skating universe, than no.

You should not get a 10.00 but a disruption of the program, in short and long-term is something that does affect the PCS and considering how Trusova skated, the PCS difference between her and Kosotornaya should have been quite a bit higher.

Actually the top five Olympic medalist hopefuls this season seem to have seen their scores increase when they fall or commit errors. It’s like you can feel the PCS increasing to help cover up the TES errors. We’ve even seen several PB’s in PCS with programs that have falls.

I am so confused with Russian diminutives, Masha, Dasha, Pasha, Zhenia...Anyway, Alina's Don Quixote is mesmerizing. I don't like backloaded programs, but her jumps on music in the last part are so entertaining. She needs to change something in that SP. She won't be able to beat top skaters with mistakes in the SP. I love Maria, and I don't find her boring. Her dress is so nice. She was a bit nervous today, but who would not be...

To be honest, would have had Kostornaya win this competition and beating Zagitova in the PCS categories skating skills, interpretation and transitions. I guess choreo we could argue even though zagitovas first half pales in comparison. It is mostly carried by the jump timing gimmick.

Gimmick because it doesnt require anything. You just jump - no need to really perform for that. I find it quite cheap as a concept.

It affects PE, IN and CO.
Firstly, the fall interrupts the performance, therefore PE shall be lowered.
Secondly, catching up with the music after the fall affects composition and interpretation, as the movements of the skater do not match the music in time.

The first is inevitable with a fall, and how badly PCS shall be affected by the second depends greatly on the skater.

That is odd. A 9.5 skating skill skater cannot perform a required step or turn? I wonder if it actually is choreod now or if she just cheats on something every time.
