Eh? Ekaterina Mironova & Evgenii Ustenko (SPB) were skating to really futuristic music. But wearing very plain costumes.
Katya is wearing a simple but beautiful green dress. Zhenya is wearing a red jumper and black trousers.
But now that I have done a search for "Her", the costumes make sense. I haven't seen the film yet, although I do plan to (I think I might already have it taped).
I enjoyed that.
Strange seeing Aleshin there as a coach rather than a competitor.
They go into 2nd position in both the FD and overall.

Vasilisa Kaganovskaia & Maksim Nekrasov (SPB). Vasilisa is waring a creamish white dress, and Maksaim is wearing a very dark blue top and trousers.
I don't care what anybody else says, I love "Rain, In Your Black Eyes", and it always produces beautiful programmes. And this one is no exception.
They were sublime
Well, they already had around 4 points of an advantage over the previous partnership. But, that advantage is going to increase a lot now.

M/U were just nervy. They could get higher GOE and be higher.
That's sad I don't think they would have another chance of winning a medal at Nats soon. But they might have a redemption in the RGPF, at least.

Stunning presentation from S/B. The improvement since their first stage is so obvious. I'm really happy for them.

Mmmm. This is not the sort of programme I would normally expect from Alexandra Stepanova & Ivan Bukin (MOS)
Sasha is wearing a beautiful maroon dress that works down to white. Vanya is wearing a jumpsuit that, like Sasha's dress, starts off as maroon, but this time it works down to black.
They were skating to "Orpheus And Eurydice". Can't say I am familiar with the music, but it was very intense. (A real contrast to "Orpheus In The Underworld!")
They were great. As usual.
Both of the Top 2 had great FD's. It's hard to choose between them. I think I preferred Kaganovskaia / Nekrasov's FD. But Stepanova / Bukin should have enough of an advantage from the SD to still win even if they don't win the FD.

It was more like a program for Sinitsina/Katsalapov.
The third-place finishers, were my favourites of the Russian Ice Dancers. Krylova needs help with choreographing for them. I find Step and Bukin bland and irksome to watch. Stepanova sticks her butt in the air and struggles to maintain a decent posture and skate well. Vasilisa and Maxim grab me in moments, but their FD is rather underwhelming, lots of tricks, but not a lot of soul.
I know I’m coming very late to this thread but I finally watched the free dance. What a great competition, such a great variety of dances. I was really impressed with the opening group. Dissapointed for M/U, I’d love to have seen them medal but P/C deserved the bronze.I think the Top 2 would be very competitive on the world stage.
I liked the translated subtitles on YouTube, it was good to hear what the commentators were saying. It’s a pity no Russian Dance or Pair team was deemed eligible for the Olympics.
