Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

Probably nothing new that we didn't already guessed/know, but this article mentioned that Yuzuru did not want to go to 4cc so JSF respected that. They know that means he will be going to the Olympics directly, so they have prepared a "special assignment", where, taken into account his recovery from the injury and his own wishes, he can go to either or both of the team events.

Team event short program is on the same day as opening ceremony (Feb 9th), FP on the 12th, then men's single SP on the 16th with FP on the 17th.

Thank you for your translation!

As far as I remember, the skaters for team event was announced one or two days before the event in Sochi Olympics.

Korean media has many news headline about Yuzu making to the team, they were so worried, now they can be relieved a bit

 well he IS a money maker. I'll fully admit that I would probably ditch my Olympic plans in despair if Yuzu wasn't going to be there - I would've just been too sad to enjoy it.

Slightly off topic, but is that different angles of Hope and Legacy at 4CC I see in that Korean news clip? Where are they keeping that footage, the video from 4CC was horrendous and this actually looks somewhat decent!

Sena's tribute to Yuzuru skating to Seimei

Short on details but just reading reports now that in Medalist on Ice (ice show after Japan Nationals) Miyake Sena (maybe with others? or just himself) skated to SEIMEI, full choreography and all!

Edit: Oops, looks like it's mentioned already! :)

Yuzu is not ready for 4CC but JSF will give him an Olys special assignement so he can skate to 4 competitions in 8 days just two weeks after, if he wants?:laugh:

Nishioka: The crowd gets loud, Sena Miyake, Yuzuru Hanyu's program. Arakawa-san, this is an important task for him, isn't it?

Arakawa: Yes, he is doing hydroblading, the trademark of Hanyu-senshu. He may be proud of skating this program, that's what I see from his performance. I hope Hanyu-senshu will come back healthy.

Nishioka: With a wish, Sena Miyake. The crowd gets loud.

Oda sent message to Yuzuru on LINE after hearing his withdrawing from Japanese nationals, "You withdraws, but I'm sure you're going to be alright. You're going to Pyeongchang and I'm going to be there, too, so I'm waiting for you there and hoping to meet you if we have a chance.", and Yuzuru replied, "I'm looking forward to seeing you, too". Oda says again () Yuzuru will not lose skills even if he rests for a while, he can get back two types of quad in a week, so the important thing is to regain stamina.

They picked a good picture to make a cardboard cut-out. With the camera angles it really looks like he's there sometimes!

Matsuoka's comment about Yuzuru

"He has been in pain and decided to go to the Olympics after healing his injury, I was relived about that. I had severe injuries many times on my ankles before, but probably if you want to play in the competitions, you can. But that burdens on your whole body the most, you hurt your other parts of your body and loose important balance. So considering about the Olympics, (it is important for him to) be fully recovered. And in my opinion, two months is enough time for him."
