Latvia has handsome - and very well-built sportsmen. Diana seems a tiny girl among them :-) Deniss usually looks tall, but not standing by the national flag bearer ;)

Did they really got honey as an olympic gift? So sweet... and dangerous as well. Imagine they take a bar and it bursts inside a travel bag :unsure:

Hope for news from their travel to Korea.
 
It's very cheering to see Team Champery among the Latvian Olympics team. :cheer:

No wonder that Chris has a uniform- he is officially a member of the Olympics team.

Honey is a really good gift. It's tasty and healthy. It's not that light as it is in southern countries but much more nutritious. It's been already strained (not in the combs any more), so there is no danger to carry in the travel bag if it is in the appropriate container.

I wonder what the small changes he described are?

There are so many great pictures along with the article - or should I say lots of pictures that would make great reaction gifs. Deniss expressions mid-jump are pretty funny.

For some reason jauns.lv always takes the most unflattering photos :palmf: At least they have his lovely smile at the top.

Hmm... he could mean anything, could be jumps or could be choreography :think: If the quad is not working out, he could go back to doing solo 3S, 3Lz-3T and 3Lz-2T-2Lo, which would be worth more than solo 3T, 3Lz-2T & 3Lz-1/2Lo-3S.

Probably the reason is they just take gettyimages photos because of copyright. Or are lazy to seek for other sources :laugh:

Choreography is great and polished to a single nuance. However if they decide to abandon the quad, there is still a place for high scored jump/combination/sequence. Personally I would vote for 3Lz3T as Deniss got for it a score comparable to what he could get for 4T.

Btw, the google translator never fails to surprise me: "Vasiļjevs has repeatedly tried to make four-legged jumps" :laugh:

This is also a memorable event for Stephane - his first Olympics as a coach. Only 8 years after his last oly competition, what is amazing.

All the more he will be in the last two flights, which are the most frequently shown in TV broadcasts worldwide.
 
I was curious why the practice schedule is provided only till the 14th of Feb, while the SP is on Friday, the 16th. It's simple:) There is a draw for SP provided and further practice will depend on it. So on Thursday at 16:15 (Korean time of course) we will know Deniss' starting number.

I hope that he won’t try a quad if they are not sure about it. There was an interview on TV with our Agita Ābele. She will be a judge at the Olympics and will rate also Deniss and Diāna. She looked through some of his jumps from FS in every detail and proved how many points he lost. She advised to do the jumps he is convinced of.:think: I hope Stephane thinks the same.

Didn't Steph say in an interview before that Deniss needed to trust his legs for the quad a while back? :think: Ryan Bradley on Olympic channel also said something similar - that he's not confident enough in it yet. It's plain to see his attempts in practice were much closer. I also wish I could see these analyses, it sounds really interesting to have a judge go through it and give their opinion. I really appreciated the comments from the tech spec at CoT.
That reminds me he scored 167 at CoT without it. Just 2 cleanish programs, please :pray:

Based on the costume, that is Deniss' hand right? I guess this answers the mystery behind Stephane's words. At least it's not as serious as a dislocated shoulder like Adam.

:eek: When was this from? I thought he meant when Deniss cut his hand at Villars on Ice.
 
I’m fully supportive of Deniss’ quad ambitions, but I hope sticks to triples and goes clean in Pyeongchang. There’s plenty of time to push for the 4T at Worlds, not to mention next season.

No, don't be sorry! I was sure it was Deniss too, it looked very much like the back of his costume... maybe the sleeves might be different on closer look, but I don't recall any skaters with a costume that similar :scratch:
 
I was searching through youtube for blood (oops, it sounds terribly :laugh2:) and found three diamonds (it sounds much better :laugh:) instead:
2010, 2011 and 2012 Lithuanian Tour I have never watched. Deniss as a kid had the same energy and joy of skating he is admired for years later.

The truth is Deniss got for his quad ca 2 pts only, what is incomparable with scores he could get for another jump while well-executed. I think that they decided to experiment during EC as Deniss had only a tiny chance for keeping the third place after FS. Olympics and Words are another piece of cake and I assume it's better to give up the quad and concentrate on delivering all the elements with maximum GOE.
