No really, it is empty because Zagitova does not have the positions or SS to make a backloaded program work. Alena K. (Russian junior) has a backloaded program and you don't even notice because she has SS that will soon rival Carolina Kostner. Her programs are still lovely.

Is there any chance of Medvedeva increasing her base value? I feel like if she ups her tech a bit the judges will get excited enough to totally max out her PCS.

If she decides to do a 3Lz instead of a 3Lo in the SP. Maybe. Take out one jump from a combo and instead puts in a 3Lz, maybe. But people say her 3Lz isn't as good. and maybe if....oh wait spins aren't as easy to choreograph....nvm.

She just needs to skate how she did the past few seasons. Skate like she's the only one at the tippity top (Though we know it's not the case now). Land EVERYTHING cleanly. Perform her heart out. Get 3 GOEs on everything lol.

I hate it when people insinuate Alina is not doing anything other than skating around waiting for the second half to start. She is doing choreography that is jam packed with difficult moves and transitions! This is way more difficult than any footwork sequence I have seen other skaters doing. I think Layback posted once how it was amazing seeing Alina do all of those things, because as a skater, she realizes how difficult it is. So no, Alina is not just "killing time."

It's not just WTT. The scoring in almost all events now are outrageous (the exceptions tend to be the ones with no Medvedeva or Zagitova).



Even 67-70 is a joke. I say 62-64.

About right.

62.21 less than a year ago for same fs program, PCS beaten by Marin Honda then at Junior Worlds.

Alina looked a bit off on some of her jumps. Definitely overscored compared to Europeans.

It must be very demoralizing for skaters like Satoko and etc to sit with their fellow country mates and hear Alina's score ~158+ points. Do I agree with the score? Nah. I get where Ashley is coming from and changes should be made to avoid skaters "abusing" the jump bonuses. Nevertheless, a clean Alina is pretty much unbeatable when she is clean and rightfully so. Let's just hope that judges don't go overboard with her PCS score.

Well that only took about 20, 25 tries to get back in.

This is not popular, but skaters like Zagitova are precisely why the women bore me. But I'm still thrilled for Mirai and hope Carolina has worked out her jitters and will slay the individual event.

Her short pcs should beat Alina by 5 points at least and give her advantage to complete with Alina's tes. I guess it is not going to happen and it is such a shame cause she is really tried to develop herself artistically for all these years.

Anyone know if Kaori is injured? The way she walk after her skate made me worry.

I'm really sad the Shibutanis are doing both segments. I hate that Chock and Bates or Hubbell and Donohue didn't get a chance at the team medal since they both have outscored the Shibutanis in the FD, plus H/D are the national champs. I know people wanted Mirai to get a medal, but I really don't get why they swapped out the ladies and not dance.
