Lot of IAM coaches changing jackets!

Gilles and Poirier RD.. i don't think it gives him a chance to show the whole high energy thing the requirements ask for..

Is it me or does it sound like there are there more American fans in there than Italian?

Women skated really well. It was tight between Jia, Lara Maddie and Nastya.

I'd have them ranked in the order above but that's not quite what happened. Jia was underscored a bit. Nastya didn't get the under-rotation many saw live.

Gogo will need everything he has in him and more.

Levels on the Pattern and the Midline made the difference between 3rd and 4th placement. It's too bad, because Piper and Paul's program is the superior of those two. My opinion only, of course.

I enjoyed the event, especially the ladies and top pairs. There were no surprises (at least not for me) at the top, but a few in the middle of the pack. For instance, I thought Pereira/Michaud did very well in pairs; in fact, I think Stellato/Deschamps would’ve been in the same spot so they really held it down. I also would have had Shin and Gutmann and Gilles/Poirer and Fear/Gibson switched in the standings.

I knew it will be close between Canada and France for the final free skate spot but I didn’t think it will come down to the men. I’ll be rooting very very hard for Gogolev tomorrow and at the same I really, really hope Aymoz doesn’t repeat his Europeans SP.

Stephen has his work cut out for him with that start order and how he usually doesn't get very high PCS. No mistakes allowed and will need to count on others to make mistakes because his PCS will be low. So, I can see how Canada may not qualify for the finals at this point.

Should have been Sakamoto, Shin, Guttman, Gubanova/Liu. Liu for all intents had a failed combo that was heavily muscled, the 2A was wonky, only the bottom 3 had worse jumps. I'd give Gubanova an underrotation, Schizas got lucky with no underrotation, Guttmann score too high just the 3T-3T right at the beginning of the program as well but I understand the judges knew what they were doing and understood the implications in terms of team points by creating a gap for others to fall into. Or maybe they just got caught up in a home country skater doing really well, and got a little carried away. Don't get me wrong, Gutmann
was great but 70 max.

Shame about all those empty seats, presumably they were sold and people couldn't turn up. Although they are filling 10k seats at the opening ceremony with volunteers since they can't sell them all .

I had goosebumps watching Sakamoto, her form has been down, this is the best she has been in a while. She has been a little susceptible to errors in recent times, and the team event isn't as high pressure so let's see.

I hope this jump map disappears again. It ruined everything for me. Am I being dramatic? 😆
I don't think it really adds anything, maybe flash it on the screen for 5 seconds while doing the replays to show the amount of total ice the skater covered. Or use it to show the ice coverage in the step sequence. I always like the jump height or time in air, and in Beijing I think they showed the speed of the jump which is useful information (maybe it was Chinese tech and they don't have it this time ).

I do like the central and lower camera angle behind the judges at the Olympics. I know that's not practical at most events.

Exactly, there is no value to the information, because it vanishes immediately. I can SEE where the skater is at that moment, I don't need a map. Showing a map with the complete ice coverage at the end of the skate instead would be useful.

Thought the Women were the best event today, which is something, as it’s my least favorite discipline. Kaori & Lara Naki slayed, and I also appreciated Maddie rising to the occasion (though I could have done without her ungracious reaction to her scores.)

Dance was not a well skated event, with the usual discrepancy between scores and what is presented on the ice.

Really, really, am not a fan of this announcing team, especially the gentleman. Way too much talking, and there’s really no need to hammer home things that are so obvious, even to the casual viewer.

We'll see how things go. But I would like to see Gogo do well.

Thankful the Peacock streams works. Can't unsee the little tracker being compared to a male gamete.
The tracker added nothing. It’s a cool toy, but distracting.

In another note the NBC Olympics page for the team results seems to be missing the ‘P’ in Peacock. At least from my phone.

Kaori and Lara Naki Guttman in the women's and Riku and Ryuchi in pairs were the highlights of the day for me.

Italy is in a good position for bronze, if Grassl edges Egadze tomorrow they will be heavy favourites. The battle between Canda and France for the final spot for the free promises to be exciting in the men's short, hopefully Kevin won't completely bomb again.
