Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

'Started jumping triple axel 3 weeks ago, and quads 2 weeks ago'
Brian came to korea a little earlier, what kind of training did you do while he was away?
'There are a lot of coaches, Tracy did skating Grishlan did jumping form and training with me'
Many athelete's say that difficulties make them stronger, what do you think of this?
'Not because of this injury, but there was 2 months I couldn't skate, I think If I skated during that time, there were things I couldn't learn. There were things I learned through this time off-ice. I don't think it was wasted time.'

Why are you so popular, what's with Winnie the Pooh? (french commentator?)
'Um, I don't know how to say? About Pooh, since I was a junior, I've had winnie on my box, and then fans began to throw Poohs on the ice, and then my room became full of Poohs.

I also had the same kind of injury, and I thought it was impossible, I'm sure you did too, how did you get over that?
' What should I say....I wasn't think about whether I could come back or not. When I was first injured, I thought I could inject a painkiller and keep going, but I couldn't move, and there were times when I didn't know if it would recover, but now I'm skating, and it wasn't all negative, and since I'm able to share good news, not bad, this is a dream competition, and I hope to give a dream performance here.'

It's been a month since you've been back on ice, it's a short time, what did you focus on and what was the most difficult thing?
'I was worried about my stamina, and I hadn't been on ice for a while, so the feel of the ice and things is not possible to have off, ice. But now I'm here, and it's all ok.
There wasn't anything particularly difficult. I'm not worried about anything. I just want to do what I need to do.

Skating here at the Olympic rink, how do you feel, and are there any changes in your mind?
Skating here in Korea, I thought so before, that skating here is great, there some elements I haven't tried yet, I have a plan in my mind, and I want to follow that plan. I want use my time wisely and peak at the right time for the individual performance.

Phil: You practiced two 4t and 2 4S are you planning a loop? And you look thinner, are you thinner than at Sochi
I'm not sure, but I think my training has made me weigh more than at Sochi. About Loop, I have nothing to say, I believe if I skate clean I will definitely win, so I need to think about what should make up my clean performance. I have options

All done.

Bumping this so you guys don't miss it. I was doing a running translation in my head while they were speaking so this is very rough and things were missed...there will certainly be a more comprehensive translation done by other fans very soon.

I find his answers very interesting. He has the plan written in stone but at the same time he is ready to YOLO the whole performance
This is the Hanyu Yuzuru that we know  Smart and brave :points:
