This is a lot more fun to watch when you don't really have an emotional investment in any of the contenders

That was really stunning from Aliona and Bruno. And actually I do have an emotional investment, I like Meagan, she's feisty and funny and so glad she got a medal! The Chinese will be elegant, they'll be back.

And best of all, I'm sorry, Candyman and those costumes, did not get rewarded. Ick ick ick. I'd much rather see someone skate to the Sammy Davis Jr. song than that one.

Proof positive that Michelle losing in 1998 made me stronger: S/H were my #1 favorites at the Olympics (yes, more than Nathan) and I'm already ok. I didn't rewatch 1998 for over 15 years

And everyone else no need to worry after all, no Candyman (which as we know is the greatest ambominaiton known to man - forget Kim Jong Il the world would surely have burned to the ground if T/M had medalled /s)

Congratulations also to S/H, Cong is so strong for such a small man!

Maybe now they'll start getting programs that aren't TACKY AS HELL or SNOOZEFESTS TO MUSIC YOUR GRANDPARENTS WOULDN'T EVEN LISTEN TO.

Heaven knows, they have the talent. Their SP is lovely. But Nina Mozer seems almost to have a personal vendetta against them by foisting FPs on them that don't suit them at all.

The Candyman program is a terrible choice to start with. Don't know why they chose this for an Olympic year.
I love Siu/Han, but honestly Aliona & Bruno's program is better: more creative/unique choreography executed on a larger scale. After watching their GPF performance, I felt their skating is on a higher level than Siu/Han. I think the placement is right.

I think that Sui/han and Aliona/Bruno are equally amazing. But, today Aliona/Bruno really stole the show just because of the quality of their elements.

Thrilled with the podium.

S/B were robbed. They should have beaten both Yu/Zhang and Zabiako/Enbert overall, and James/Cipres in the LP. Hotarek and Marchei should have beaten James/Cipres. I can only hope that the phenomenal programs S/B and H/M put out there tonight will help them reputation-wise with the judges for the future. Both had amazing Olympic moments here.

So are Savchenko and Massot and Sui/Han continuing on after this season? I know D/R are retiring.

Oh poor Evgenia, she was crying, wasn't she? I LOVE the podium but I hate to see a good team have to fail for others to win.

The backstage and kiss and cry shots on the stream are interesting. Aliona's emotions, Bruno's relief, the German and Canadian coaches reacting together - fun to get that peek inside! Meagan and Aliona keep hugging every chance they get while waiting to go back on the ice. Now Aliona's hugging everyone she sees. She's so thrilled.

Loved the hug between Aliona and Meagan :2thumbs: Meagan seems so sweet. I may not like her and Eric's music, but I'm very happy for them now. What a beautiful podium!!

Aljona and Bruno were magical. I am so happy for them.

Sui and Han should be really proud- I think this will make them hungry over the next several years.

And the Canadians should be so proud too. What a great event.

I wish T/M had had a better program. It was simply not a good Olympic quality program- the lyrics were fairly cringe worthy.
