2018 Olympic Figure Skating Pairs FS

Just my 2 cents on T/M: Candyman was always going to be the wrong choice. They have proven time and time again that they will throw away an important medal with silly mistakes. Maybe this is an important lesson for them.

It's sad to see how Russia got 1 and 2 last Olympics, and no medals in pairs this time. However, everyone else was ON, and they made costly mistakes.

Two teams so happy and then Wenjing trying so hard to hold back tears on her way to the podium. i'm sure it feels like losing the gold but she and Cong have a silver medal, she looks a little happier now and they'll be coming for that gold in four years.

Pairs is my favourite discipline. I couldn't be happier about the quality all the teams brought to Korea. This was an amazing competition. It's going to take a lot for the men, women and dancers to top this.

Anyone know where you can watch victory ceremony? or for that matter, medal ceremony for team event- i searched on nbc olympics to watch the medal ceremony for the team event but it's not there. Figure skating is like the only sport not there. I want to see both the victory ceremony as well as medal ceremony!

I think on the olympic channel they have been showing all medal ceremonies early morning since there is a "Medal Ceremony" tv show on the olympic channel. But they just started it - they did not show team event medal ceremony on nbc even nor on the olympic channel (they just showed a trucuated version with the canadian anthem but did not show the US athletes getting their medals). Where can I see that?

I hope Cong practices his 3T+2T+2T everyday until the next olympics :sarcasm:

I hope they practice EVERY jump. Must jump each jump 5 times in a row per day. If you screw up, start over. If they practice their throws thousands of times, I don't see why they can't do that for the SBS. Or another solution, get outside jump specialists and relearn every jump. Chinese jump techniques are quite inferior in that looks the girl relies more on sheer rotation rather than height and momentum going into the jump.

But hey, the youngsters S/H and T/M have placed almighty fine today. The next quad is going to be entirely a S/H vs T/M affair, and I'm really looking forward to it! (Unless a junior pair from Russia comes and schools them both on SBS jumps.)

AND I ALSO WANT TO SEE THAT QUAD THROW SUI

I hope Cong practices his 3T+2T+2T everyday until the next olympics :sarcasm:

Naw, Cong is solid as a rock so no need for him to head case (Chris Knierim on the other hand :slink: ). They just need to kill it going forward and get their gold in 2022

Now Meagan and Bruno and Alijona and her hubby can start having babies after they retire (if that’s their wish, of course). Ooooh, can you imagine, Meagan Jr vs. Aliona Jr, duking it out at the 2038 olympics?

Along with Volosozhar's daughter... it'll be epic!

The flower ceremony now being a plushie ceremony brings such a big smile to my face. So wholesome.

now that I'm hearing it Wanna One's Pick Me as an instrumental fits properly

(ps. it's kpop)

OMG Aliona and Bruno what a comeback!!!!

Congratulations to them! They must be so happy!!

And everyone else no need to worry after all, no Candyman (which as we know is the greatest ambominaiton known to man - forget Kim Jong Il the world would surely have burned to the ground if T/M had medalled /s)

Congratulations also to S/H, Cong is so strong for such a small man!

Not very nice at all. All these four teams (top four) really are special. While it is nice Aliona got her gold had the judges marked the Germans not so generously or put in the second to last group - half a point surely would have gone to the Chinese. There is joy for Germany (well not really because this team really is just a bought or made up team representing Germany - no real nationalistic pride and Canada and tears of sadness for OAR and China. What wonderful skating. Now will the Germans go to world's? Will D and R retire leaving Canada no longer with three teams? Will T and M return from heartbreak or will S and K be revived and revved up. Such happiness and sadness.

Michael Slipchuk from Canada must be so happy and has to sweat out two more competitions - will Daleman or Osmond get a bronze and will Tessa and Scott bea able to beat the French. I think he has given up on Chan.

USA - oh my. The Knerims really tried and to be honest if it wasn't so crazy how good all the teams were should have been in the top ten. But when a shockingly decent third Canadian team couldn't make the top ten team that says a lot I was pleasantly surprised or maybe not surprised but the Italians and Canadians and French were wonderful. I think skating so early effected the two other Canadian teams because Seguin and Biledeau probably desrved to be higher maybe even like 5th in the long but whatever Aliona got a gold and Canada a nice bronze.

I mean... Aliona competed with sui/han's coaches... that really puts things into perspective, lol.

She also competed with you-know-who's coach ;) who might have secretly helped her get the gold

Silver medalists are always sadder than bronze, since psychologically they're comparing themselves to the gold, while the bronze could look at the rest of the medal-less field and be happy

Haha i don't think it was like that in Sochi...

I wouldn't be surprised if the lift score...did the tech controller know how close it was? Because Sui/Han have never EVER pretty much gotten a level 3 on their group 3 lift (which got perfect GOE)...and poof they go from winning by 0.03 to losing by 0.47.

Sorry don't mean to be a conspiracy theorist. S/M were amazing, best free skate of all time. On a 6.0 judging type scale Aliona are the clear winners. Just think the points added up weirdly...

I hope they practice EVERY jump. Must jump each jump 5 times in a row per day. If you screw up, start over. If they practice their throws thousands of times, I don't see why they can't do that for the SBS. Or another solution, get outside jump specialists and relearn every jump. They might have to bring back the 4STh as well because I don't think they can rely on T/M having such atrocious presentation the next Olympics.

I'm salty though. 0.43 difference! They could have won despite the single toe... if they didn't flubbed the spin (level 2) and lift (level 3). If only they get 0.44 more points in PCS from the Short Program. :/

That said, no way the judges would have given it to them even if they did level 4 spin and lift. No way. It just wouldn't be right.

well she stepped out of the sal right? That was the big one.

I feel so bad for them, but I needed this for Aliona.
