Is it bad that I’m American but would not have given Nathan +2 or +3 on some of those quads? I mean, the 4lutz was forward, and the 4flip combo had almost no speed coming out..... sometimes his quads are not very nice to look at.

Nope! That score was way too high based on the lack of quality his performance had, in both jumps and presentation!

Federation, little reputation, potential future threat. You have rival federations judges both reward and guard these territories.

Nathen did just do a 6 quads and the new US no.1 who ride high on an excellent season. Patrick and Javier will be replaced in future season, Hanyu need a rival, and he is the US$ ISU is looking for. Doorway to new riches etc...

It's not just the look, Cha actually has this way of accentuating his posing or change of direction here and there that does remind me of Machida.

I am glad I am not the only one who noticed it!! Really looking forward to seeing Cha's growth as a skater over the next few years.

I'm so sorry Brendan didn't have that mojo for last night. I think the mistakes took him out of the program. If he could only borrow Plushenko or Yagudin's mirror, which told them every day that they were the best . He has captivating qualities and I could easily seem him in the later groups. I hope he's able to put it all together

No. If you know much about figure skating, there’s not much in Chen’s skating that can be awarded a positive GOE. He has far less height and hang time than others, almost no flow on his exits, poor entrances... nothing that demands more than a neutral GOE at best. (I’m also an American. It’s pretty obvious why Hanyu gets over +2 on his 4Lo and Nathan doesn’t.)
