Evgenia Medvedeva | Page 260 | Golden Skate

Evgenia Medvedeva

I completely agree with what had been said above. I see Alina PCS score a little higher than I think it should be, but that's not Alina's fault. Still I will be rooting for both of them, they were magnificent. With all that pressure from IOC, fans, media (and haters too), they really have the nerves of steel.

Alina is my favourite and I think she deserves to be in 1st and deserves both TES and PCS. But that doesn't make Evgenia any less of a skater, she has accomplished so much and deserves all her records and golds. But what's even more amazing is how sweet Evgenia is. I'm sure she's disappointed, but her comments about Alina are so warm afterwards and shows what true sportsmanship is about. A lot of young skaters should look up to her not only for her hard work, dedication and champion mindset, but also her gracious attitude and her incredible kindness towards other skaters. We have seen so many skaters this season and past scream and yell and call it unfair or rigged when they are beaten, but Evgenia never does this and instead praises her competitors, even after being the favourite so long. Everyone can learn a lot from her, she is an incredible athlete in all regards.

Now I don't care if Zhenya doesn't win a gold medal anymore, I just hope that she and Alina will have a fun time in Olympics :)

One half of me has already given up, already anticipating the inevitable, has even already accepted it.

The other half of me is holding on to that one thread of hope that we might see Evgenia Medvedeva crowned as Olympic champion.

But at the end of the day, no matter what happens, I hope she just sets herself free and give a program that she’ll look back on with pride and leave with no regrets.

And no matter what happens, her name is one for the history books, and what she has done will not be forgotten, not by me that’s for sure.

On the bright side, we can say that she broke the world record 13 times even tho it didn’t last very long :laugh2:

PS I think of the hate that Evgenia got (and still gets) for her scores, and I really don’t want Alina to be subjected to that. That girl is a powerhouse and a champion, and if anyone gets to beat Evgenia, I’m glad it’s her.

Now Zhenya needs two lz in lp and one in her sp. she needs to work hard on getting that edge correct 100% of the time.

More immediately, she might consider 3f3t in the second half for Friday.

How many points will she gain if she does the 3f3t in 2nd half?

Well, she actually gave her best SP for the season. It's not that she bombed or something, it just wasn't enough but that was out of her control. :sad46:

This situation reminds me about Yana Kudryavtseva and Margarita Mamun. Zhenya as Yana, won anything but Olympic and Alina as Rita, always behinds Yana in long times but won the gold medal in Olympic :(

Well, let's be real. Alina is no longer behind and this didn't start at the Olympics. She got her first clean SP at Euros and I guess due to confidence boost (and training ofc) she is actually finally getting started on winning it all clean. In the future I except even higher scores. I think Zhenya got the maximum of her current SP layout based on the fact that her score range since last season is still about 80-81. But that doesn't mean she skates badly because she is still far away from the other ladies. It hurts me as well that after all these seasons she will probably lose it at the most important one. As TAT once said - you stay long time at the top alone and then someone comes and gets it all in less than 6 months, this is sport. Exciting and sad at the same time. :sad46:

not really, Yana and Mamun competed with each other for 4 years while Zagitova is a new senior
the only similarity is that Yana got injured like Medvedeva and competed in Olympic season tentative, Yana lost to Mamun in Baku and Kazan World Cups heading to the Olympics.

also if Zagitova wins, its another swan lake song winner like Mamuns black ribbon swan.

I'm so happy Evgenia skated her best SP at oly, I was really nervous about her. Hope she'll be clean in FS

The judges were out of control. What do they smoke? They smoke crack?

It's NBC I'm mad at. Complaining about her Lutz, according to other forum users, when she didn't even do one. How will that make the casual fans feel about her? and this "malicious" rivalry they are trying so hard to push..puh-lease :disapp:
At least we know those teenage girls are more mature than they are.

Seems likes everybody in this thread has given up :(

Well it's pretty simple mathematics at this point (or at least that's what users who have more knowledge about scoring suggest).

And as much as I love Evgenia and want her to win, I also have to admit that Alina simply has better jumps right now and those are making the difference.

Alina would have to really bomb the FS for Evgenia to win, and sorry but I wouldn't wish that on any skater... especially Alina who seems like an actual nice and decent person (also, she's already getting a LOT of hate and that's just disgusting).

Anyway, I just hope Evgenia will be able to get past this (probably) Olympic silver and carry on the battle in the following years

Except this is not figure jumping. If you take only jumps then kaori wins (except lutz).

Honestly, this is just unfair to Alina. I prefer Evgenia hands down, and she rightly won PCS, but Alina performs much more difficult jumps and she performs them extremely well. Evgenia HERSELF said that her combo wasn’t that great, which is why she didn’t rippon the 3T and at the moment she has an easier layout.

Saying this doesn’t take ANYTHING away from how incredible Evgenia is. Taking silver wouldn’t make her any less amazing. Her WR being broken doesn’t change the absolute dominance of the past 2 years, nor does it diminish her accomplishments. Nobody thinks Yuna and Mao aren’t great because their scores have been topped.

We can be objective and still prefer Evgenia and think she’s the best.

Tes I agree. Pcs is a joke. That's it. Look at the gap.
