Moscow qualifiers to Elder Age 5-8 Mar

Russian judges in general seem to not really like Shcherbakova.

I think if she got to skate internationally the PCS scores would be more generous to her and after that point Russian judges would have to score her a little higher also.

it doesn't work for Panenkova.

To qualify for what?

Elder Age Nationals, for which this is a qualifier.
The top six ladies qualify. And we saw that this pretty much the "just let Panova's girls win everything"

true. one of the most puzzling things I've ever seen from them.
up there with Sinitsyna's 75 a couple of weeks ago

it doesn't work for Panenkova.
That's because she's not the type of a skater who international judges would like, unlike Shcherbakova.

What I don't get is Kanysheva's scoring. She had a weak, scratcly and wobbly landing yet still got scored through the roof. To me she's stone faced and has next to no musicality. Hm.

but they DID like her....
Her international scores are way higher than her domestic scores.
Mmh? JGPF she got 54.85 PCS for a clean skate. Lowest out of all participants. 5 points less than Trusova, Kostornaia etc.

That doesn't qualify as them liking her to me.

But she made it to the JGPF!

Live impressions.
Top 12.
Kanysheva 65.18 was very good except bad exit from 3Lz. All jumps rippon. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B8MVAlg37aY
Kostyuk 63.30 was very nice without vizible errors. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z0eeZwB0OG8
The same Gulyakova 63.24. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku_Y3pyJzg0
Scherbakova 63.23 was good but not very good, her place is deserved. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=84PftMyNfe4
Tarusina 62.47 - good. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ldrQudqsJ_Q
Panenkova 62.05 - strong and solid, underscored I believe. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QdenWelWl-A
Frolova 61.80 - good, visibly clean. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=97DE35SsjQU
Sinitsina 61.63 - mistake at 3Lz exit, other good but Kanysheva was better.
Rubtsova 60.93 - clean.
Chistyakova 60.90 - very nice but mistake. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JkgXm7Ms86s
Safonova 60.70 - clean, nice, underscored as always.
Vasilieva 59.25 - fall from 3F+3Lo, other good, would be at least second without this mistake. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MopyrBqMSHY

Of others - Mukhortova 57.73 place 15, all except jumps is very nice, but jumps low, bad exits, probably URs. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GRRaRQ2QyXQ

Also there was Synchronized Skating team SP.
I've seen synchronized skating alive first time - nice and interesting, team was good, at Worlds (which I watched on TV) were worse teams I believe (not at high places).

Kanysheva, Panenkova, Tarakanova - very well trained, consistent, vivid and winning ladies - still lacking that refinement, athletic "wow" or some kind of spark. The "it", as they say.
Even overall worse skater than all of them, Mukhortova had it before the injury - she received ovations for her "Kukushka" program and her amazing spins, I loved watching her. I'm following those three elite, successful novice/junior skaters for some time already and haven't witnessed or felt anything like that. :confused2:

Tarakanova has such an it factor in my mind! She really has programs that show her personality so well and she has the "wild passion" factor that a lot don't.

Just as I thought, it's probably my personal preference. They're truly great girls, anyway. :agree:
