2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

Because of Konstantinova, Russia lost silver/bronze of Junior Worlds 2017, and bronze of Junior Worlds 2018. That's really bad. What about seniors, that's okay. Still, with all that juniors' depth, there are no competitive and consistent skaters in seniors, except Medvedeva and Zagitova. Tsurskaya - just one good showing at NHK, next bad skating at Skate USA and at stages of Cup of Russia. Her 3T in 2A+3T combo look URed, skating skills are weak and laboured. Also her 3Lz+3T became worse. Only single jumps of hers are worth to watch, if she's not doubling them, of course. Radionova - she barely skates, Tuktamysheva - same. Who's else?

Really, Konstantinova was the only one available option here, for seniors. Stealing two Gubanova's Worlds Junior medals - that's what's bad.

Even when skated not so well, Tsurskaya and Radionova skate better than Konstantinova internationally.

Fans talking about age in Figure Skating...Just imagine a 31 year old Carolina beating a 15 year old Alina...This shows that skaters age like fine wine..

The only thing you can do is imagine it. Because there is no chance Kostner will beat Alina in FS.

No, when considering next years slot allocation, the third skater is irrelevant.
Maria had a bad SP with multiple UR and was saved by a lenient tech panel.

Spasiba!

You know something I really miss Elena Radiaova and Anna Pogorilaya. All the pressure is on Zagitova and she's only 15 I hope she has a great long program and winss the gold. But some people want the fairytale ending for Carolina and I understand that. I just hope the scoring is fair in the long program.

Realistically, I think Caro holding on to silver is the best case scenario. Their BV was only 3 points apart in the SP, but it will be miles apart in the LP. Alina does 2 lutzes, 2 flips, and everything in the bonus, while Caro (I think) repeats the flip and the salchow, with all the hardest jumps in the first half. She also hasn't done a 7 triple LP in a long time.

I hope you are right. But they may want a fairytale finish for Kostner at home Alina will need to bring her A game like she usually does.

Long time ago, Grin, tars, Spirals for Miles and Shayuki were asking me to write an anthem of the scout bureau... That was hard, but in the end, I did it!

Ladies and gentlemen, it's official!
The new theme song of the scout bureau!:clap::clap::agree:

I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To find them is my cause

I will travel across the land
Searching live streams far and wide
Teach every lady to understand
The power that's inside

Scout bureau! Gotta catch 'em all
It's you and meee...
I know it's my destiny.
Scout bureau! Oooh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend!

Scout bureau! Gotta catch 'em all
A heart so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me, and I'll teach you
Scout bureeeeaaaau!
Gotta catch 'em all, gotta catch 'em aaall!!

OMG now I imagine you guys as mysterious travellers hiding in bushes and observing new junior skaters specimens to choose the best and catch them

1. It was Stasya's FIRST EVER top-tier international senior tournament.
2. It's not like 60 points is a disaster for a total debutant.
3. She still has free to improve, being only 5 points away from top 10, which would be fantastic final result for a rookie in Worlds.
4. On a shallow note: she was undisputable miss of the short program.

may be, may be
BUT
let's remember world championship debut of Anna Pogorilaya (she was younger but it's no matter I think)

And what about Alina's debut? ;)
Debut or not, the "state of Russian Ladies skating" at this championship is a bit sad when compared to the level of juniors..

I dunno she is not my type =)
She just looks so clumsy on ice though - bad posture, weight movements and all.

Me doesnt get it.

I don't think her posture is that bad. She leans forward on her crossovers too much and can be a bit frantic but as a whole her skating looks quite lively and even approaching classy.

I dunno, I agree with lively, but disagree with classy. She looks kinda same clumsy and frantic as Alina to me, but Alina leans forward way less and has a higher TES and is consistent in a good way.

Is Konstantinova's SP performance the worst one from russian senior ladies during last 3 years? I can't remember any other getting less than 60 points

Last three seasons, wrote down only three skaters, time of search in wiki - 50 seconds. :sarcasm:

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva - 2017 Internationaux de France 53.03, 2017 CS Lombardia Trophy 58.91, 2015 Skate Canada International 55.37, 2015 International Cup of Nice 59.12,
Alena Leonova - 2017 CS Finlandia Trophy 56.73, 2017 CS Ondrej Nepela Trophy 54.70, 2015 Skate Canada 52.08,
Anna Pogorilaya - 2015 NHK Trophy 47.35, 2015 Ondrej Nepela Trophy 53.01.

So true. But Adelina Sotnikova Elena Radionova and Anna Pogorilaya kind of fading away the past 2 years has hurt their depth on the senior circuit.
