What a season for Satoko. She fought for her illness and recovered, won Nationals, skated her best at the Olympics, and medaled at the WCs. She inspires me deeply.

Wakaba's mindless crying was the highlight of the event.

Kaetlyn the perfect skater, deserved winner of the WC.

Wakaba is my bias, but I'm not so sure she would have done better than Kaori at the Olys whereas she helped get three spots back for Japan here! eace:

I love Kaori so much, so I have the opposite bias admittedly, but I think they were both placed perfectly. No one knows how Wakaba would have done at the Olympics or Kaori here. They both did a wonderful job, I think one error for each of them, and I'm sure are both proud of how they performed. I love how Japan let each of their top ladies have a spot at the most 'important' competitions and went by nationals results fairly.

Most importantly, now maybe Wakaba and Kaori can go to Worlds together next year!!

This is why Olympic champions should just stay away from Worlds after they win the Olympics. Even Yuna didn't look right in 2010 and you would think that the pressure would have been off after winning Gold in Vancouver but she looked shaky and more nervous then normal.

Kaetlyn manages to win gold ---but without a completely clean program LOL. Only her.

GUys think what she could do with a flawless free skate.

A clean free skate wouldn't change anything, the program isn't good. She lacks any truly great choreography or personality in her performance, and didn't even end in time with the music in this performance. It also seems they tried to make her jump smaller in order to get more control, her Flips didn't have nearly the power they sometimes do. It was a very vanilla performance, except for the 3Loop which was surprisingly the best jump of the program and deserving of a +2 (but certainly not the +3's it got).

Wakaba Higuchi is the winner of this event to me. Better program, more difficult program (3-3 late in the program and 2 Lutzes, REAL EDGE Lutzes), better performance, and a little cleaner (1 fall in the SP as compared to a near-fall for Osmond in the SP plus a step-out in the LP).

It is the kick'em when they are down deduction for more than 2 falls. I hate, hate this one. If judges did their job correctly it wouldn't be necessary. :furious:

Nah. Caro's been lifted by judges far too many times. For once, I'm glad that judges, didn't/couldn't prop her up after a disastrous skate.

Satoko is lifted just as much as Carolina. Satoko has two world medals given to her by Shin Amano.

It is an irony. Russian girls are all amazing and strong. But last year world two podium spots went to Canada and this year to Japan. I am just amazed by the unpredictable and spontaneous sport-women-ship in Figure skating.

I dont think Russian senior ladies are generally that strong when you need to pick just 3 of them in current situation and let them compete. Medvedeva is, but she isn't here. I still think she is the best ladies figure skater currently skating, so...

To me Osmond winning is kind of like Buttle's win 10 years ago - not expected, but without question the best 2 overall programs, no questions asked. She got the highest PCS and technical. She beat out the technical masters as well as the 'artiste's. Ie, not in doubt at all.
