Thank you, this is an interesting article. It talks about the Japanese star athletes and their lives in different eras, and points out Otani and Yuzuru are living humbly, just focusing on the sports compared to the stars in Showa era.
 
I guess I am in the minority but I would like to see MI 2 from Yuzuru on this weekend :biggrin: This is small video clip of "From Russia with love" when he was a kid.

Yes, it was interesting, the Showa era was Japan's era of extreme growth and conspicuous consumption. The Bubble economy. The article mentions that it was almost required or expected that successful people must be flashy and live the high life otherwise you are not representing properly. Values have changed so much now.
 
Thanks for all the reports! Sounds like he is having fun and basking in the love from those around him. Great lead up to the parade! Very happy to hear the news about his ankle and about his plans in upcoming programs. I am not completely selfless in wishing he would compete since I already have tickets ready :biggrin: and thinking far far ahead towards 2020 Montreal Worlds...:drama:

I kind of miss Bubble economy :laugh: Nowadays, the young couples even hesitate to get married because they worry about supporting the family and raising children in the current Japanese economy, which is very understandable.

How has been the number of people visiting Yuzuru´s picture exhibition, I will guess now is not as concurred as in the first day?
 
This is funny. Yuzuru did commentary of Ballad at the Olympics but there was no video due to the copy right issue (he did it with the still image). Then the audience became "Oh, whyyyy?", but Yuzuru said "I knew you would react like that. But you all have watched it many times so you remember it, don't you?" :laugh2:

It was the best surprise. :points: I think he most of all did not want to disappoint his fans by saying for sure he would skate when he didn't know how the recovery might go. So he kept our expectations low, just in case.
I admit, I was getting worried when we didn't see him at all in the days before the show. But it made the surprise so much better.
 
What's not to love with this man? Now I feel envious of his yet unidentified wife in the future.
