In the end what a ride! Yatagarasu and I got often attacked on this journey but i think it was worth it.

Now i wish her all the best in Canada. I think it will be hard and in the first or two competitions she might have problems but this girl wants olympic gold 2022!

Come on Zhenya, we all know you are a fighter.

Guys, this is not official. I have been thinking about this comp ever since I became a fs fan but in my eyes it's just too good to be true and I don't want to get all excited for nothing...Russia is scary af. You never know what they're capable of. These speculations will be the end of me untill official news come out

I agree, I think it's just speculation for now, especially about Orser/TCC?

Anyways if that's true though, seems like an amazing deal for her!

Yeah - the word "robot" was wrong and was obviously used as an insult. I can understand you being emotional about the coaching change - but I thought it would make you happy. Why the need to lash out? There's nothing to forgive - after all you didn't insult me. All is "good in the hood".

Not officially confirmed yet, but very probable.

She broke her own world record with her SP twice. It was a world record setting program twice over. That should be sufficient for a gold, and she matched Alina's FS score even though her program was much easier than Alina's. Eteri did not shortchange her with her programs and hamstring her in any way as far the programs were concerned. She might not have done her any favors letting her skate at NHK, but she didn't screw her in the Olympics, not when Clinical Death set two records and a modestly-difficult Anna Karenina matched Alina's technically-extreme Don Quixote. Zhenya lost because the judges gave Alina such a high PCS on Black Swan, not because Eteri gave her inferior programs.

It's basically saying what I've been saying.
In short, that the Fed wanted gold for Russia, so they went for Alina. That they didn't support Zhenya enough.

These two posts raise points, together with seeing the Japan Doc, make it clear to me that she felt let down at the Olympics.

The footage of the two fed guys at her training exhibition where she can't land a jump and is falling during simple steps, utterly distraught and emotional at the end. I think that was where they decided to bank on Alina, to protect their medal hopes and provide that crucial +5 PCS boost her way.

Medvedeva did enough to win gold - she'd have won every Olympic games with those two programs and instead, the Russian fed propped up her young team mate and cost her gold. My guess is that's what led to this dram unfolding today

"We don't like this situation - he said - but Zhenya is gonna to stay at Sambo-70 but with another coach. We never restrict her in any ways and she has good relation with our school, we tried to influence the situation. I think this is not fully correct situation as Eteri Georgievna gives everything her students need. It's complecated and we have to wait. It would be wrong to force the situation. And we have to pay tribute to Tutberidze, she has great number of reservists".

This has already been posted, but according to some translations what they meant was that she will still be representing Sambo 70, but with another coach. It doesn't necessarily mean that she's staying at Sambo. Multiple skaters represent a certain club, but train abroad. The same thing was said when Serafima and Yulia left, and we all know how that turned out!

well according to some russians, that was not the case, Russia (and its allies) really wanted Evgenia to win gold.

I was feeling that Zhenya lost faith in Eteri this season but still thought she wouldn't leave her. Still, I see this on the positive note - change is good, it will give her some new perspective and freedom.

Am I the only one who's feeling both sad and excited with uncertainty? Honestly it feels like a couple I thought will always love each other and will forever stay together just split. It ruins my faith in relationships [emoji14]
On the other hand I hope she's going to Orser because he seems very supportive of his students.

To be honest I think it was a good decision. It would be mentally tough to train with jrs like Trusova and Alena K. They are already doing quads and 3A

Not sure if you know what Med has gone through to come for this decision. Med has stayed with Eteri for 10 years and it might have taken a toll on her emotionally to leave. Many skaters and coaches endure each other for the Olympics and after the Olympics they're done with each other for good.

In the news they said the coach and zhenya relationship was fine. Maybe it was more of an environment thing. And people were right. Eteri's priorities would naturally shift to her younger students
