Evgenia Medvedeva to train under Brian Orser

Eteri thinks that orser doesn’t like her success, but I would think it’s more like her training methods?

Well, I'm assuming that statement is based on recent skaters' results. Based on that, Brian IS the best men's coach. So? I would bet the mortgage that he is not staying up nights worrying about Eteri. She should emulate his example and speak as an adult, not a child.

She speaks her mind, just that, her thoughts, chill. She wants her students to stay on top, that's all she 's meant

Of course, nobody says that he stays up nights worrying about Eteri. But, meanwhile, he said that he is curious, he wants to learn her "secrets"

I don't see how she was disrespectful :scratch2:

I have not read the article, so I am going only off the comments here. If Eteri is any way implied that Brian was hurt or impacted or in any way gave two hoots about her skaters' results, (other than at a comp where Brian's skaters are skating), that is disrespectful. As if Brian didn't have a stable full of his own accomplished skaters to worry about.:confused2:

How can you know her methods? I doubt anyone knows, so there is nothing to dislike. The team around is efficicent and competent, that's what we can be sure of

You should watch the video before commenting then.

Watched the promo. She indeed said that. Like she thinks Orser is hurt by her success and she should work harder for him to hurt even more and I was like????? There are different and much more nicer ways to disagree with someone.

Again? What's wrong with her? :scratch2: She's like a mean, spoiled child. :bang:

Eteri is totally ridiculous at this point. That's extremely childish.

I think if there is something wrong it's not with Eteri but with some local posters. Orser said he wants to understand how Eteri does it. Eteri replied that it feels like he is challenging her and she will do her best to make him even more challenged. Very strong and confident answer.

TAT- so ugly from her part to dismiss totally Eteri.

Exactly. TAT may have a lot of the big history behind her but now she often behaves like a brat. There is a saying that at 42 the first life marathon finishes and the second starts. The only difference between them is that you are a child at the beginning of the first marathon but at the end of the second one.

Because she builds all her philosophy on competition. She thinks that competition is the engine for getting better (for herself, as well in her group).

I think Eteri will lose next season "war", but the future is hers.
Eteri hasn’t lose anything when it comes to her coaching career. Everyone under the sun knows that Med leaves for Orser because she aims for longevity which she couldn’t see in Eteri’s group.

Eteri still has her amazing junior girls who will dominate many competitions later. But she might have lose much respect from many people for bashing her former teen students, bashing coaching colleague for whatever reason.

I have to ask, because I'm seriously thinking my reading skills are giving in - Eteri saying "Brian is hurt by her teams success and they must train harder to hurt him more" is a 'confident reply', but TAT simply stating her opinion that Brian Orser is the best coach in the world right now is dismissive, disrespectful and behaving like a brat?

There are zero ways for me to answer that that wouldn't get deleted and me an infraction.

Interesting. As if Brian hasn't had just as much (if not more) success. He had the Olympic Gold and Bronze medal winners in men and the World men's gold medal winner in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Maybe she is talking about women. But he had Yuna, who was never as engaging a skater after she left him (and she won her OGM under his coaching).

Yeah, it's just more snippets from the same interview she did on the phone a week ago. The less scandalous snippets, one might add. They really picked the juciest bits for the first EXCLUSIVE report.

Not sure if they're going to release more, but I think I'm starting to get a clearer picture on one of the points of Eteri's and Evgenia's conflict. The way Eteri frames it betrays a lot. She says Med basically can't wrap her head around the fact that she lost and that they (the coaching team?) tried to explain it to her over and over again. Which, frankly, isn't true at all. Evgenia obviously not just knows that she lost, but also could tell right afterwards that the reason was basic math: the base value of her program was lower than Alina's, so if both of them had a perfect skate, Med was most likely going to lose and she understood it perfectly well, seeing how Alina's components have grown during the season. It's something she has no trouble to analyse in interviews directly afterwards. But looks like Eteri disagrees and wanted to convince her that she just didn't get everyting she could out of the program, because obviously if she did and Med losing was due to miscalculating the potential of the content in the first place, that does put some blame on Eteri as the one who constructed the program to win.

In hindsight, there were quite a few signs of this. Meds knew that Alina was a threat. She already had higher TES than her when they competed at Russian Nationals at the end of 2016.

Meds then got a new program that had higher TES potential but then went back to one with lower TES.

It is likely that Eteri and Meds had discussed this in the season leading up to the Olympics and that Eteri was adamant that she would win if clean. That explains Meds saying she had done everything she could and Eteri denying this, as it meant she had been wrong.

and also lets don't forget Gabby's Olympic team gold and bronze from worlds, I mean it's still high achievements...So if we count all words and Olympic medals for last 3 quads, he is indeed 'the best'...

Just sit back, watch the outrage, and enjoy being smug next season when Medvedeva starts bringing in medals again and all the ride-or-die Russian posters have shot themselves in the foot.

You seriosly compare them using history? In that case I can name many more coaches better than both of them:confused2: Right now NO ONE compares to her school of skating, as the results are phenomenal and progressing each time we see her skaters. She wants a boy-champion and I think she'll get there too, no doubt
