Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

And the Olympics Seimei, when it was so brilliant but at the same time so uncertain if his injury would let him hold out... the breathtaking emotion just grabbed me (and this was after the fact; I have no IDEA how you folk, who watched it live, even breathed for that four and a half minutes)

I was barely functioning, wanting to puke the closer it got to his skate. I wanted to fast forward to the results, but being there in person meant that it didn't get anymore live than that. TV Tokyo filmed us watching and I could see that I was really nervous (and they could too as they had "ファンも不安" meaning "fans are also uneasy" plastered across the screen in that shot :laugh::laugh:). I can't fully enjoy his skates until afterward.

https://twitter.com/OlympicCh_es?s=09 oooh, look who's in the center of the twitter banner.

cracks me up that he's so prominent in the promotions for the summer Olympics. I wonder what his role in the Olympics will be. I suspect that whether he lights the torch will have something to do with how he does over the next 2 years and whether Sapporo will get 2026.

who is the person between Yuzu and DeGrasse?

I am not surprised - I was nervous and I KNEW he'd won... (maybe because I wasn't sure if he'd done it clean, or maybe Yuzuru just does that to us)

Should be interesting, the Japanese Olympic people will try to push him forward, and he'll probably want to stand back and let the summer sports athletes take centre place... he knows his own worth, but he's so humble in other ways.

Yes the time will come when Japan will hold another winter olympics and then he can be the final torch bearer

Looks like Sapporo city told JOC that it wanted to change the bidding time to the Olympics of 2030, the official announcement has not been made yet though.

Just saw Asaichi and Yuzu said he did hiphop dance lessons only in training camp in Summer. Is he talking about TCC? Does Cricket Team do training camps in the summer?

Yeah, I'm assuming so. They do for younger skaters, probably for elite skaters as well. I know Wakaba Higuchi has attended one of their training camps before (or something of the sort at TCC).

Do they do it in TCC using the rink? Wonder where all the skaters sleep? Not inside TCC I assume?

Is there someone who became his fan in 2011 GPF (like I did )? He was the last skater qualified for GPF but finished in the 4th place overall with this. Love Nanami sensei's reaction and the crowd in Quebec gave him the standing ovation. (And I've just noticed now that Orser was watching Javier at the board when Yuzuru came back from the rink )

A bit late to the discussion, but GPF 2011 was it for me too

He did look like a noodle, albeit a very adorable one , but the passion and sheer Drama he brought in his skates were just very awe-inducing. IMHO Etude is still his best costume hehe, I love colour gradation. R&J 1.0 is still one of the best things he ever did - I was over the moon he brought it back in CiONTU. I love the collabs with Jeff and Shae-Lynn, but I want him to get one more EX with Nanami sensei and his Russian mentor. What can I say, I love the drama :laugh2:
