Skaters with consistently good/bad costumes

With the risk of getting people angry I have to say that if there is one thing I don't like about Yuzuru that is his costumes. It's just my personal taste, I know he had some nice ones but I cannot say they are consistently good. Most of them have too many things going on...too many colours, too many ruffles (I don't know how to call those). Anyway his skating makes me forget about the costume most of the time.
Yeah, I really like some of his costumes (Etude, Chopin 1.0, H&L) but most of them aren't my taste. But his beautiful line made these not- too -good costumes less horrible. I think he doesn't care too much about visual effects but focuses on adding depth and meaning to his costumes, especially with Seimei 2.0 costume considering it's one of the most meaningful and iconic program of him. That's why as you said his costumes tend to have many details.

Urmanov and Kulik have some hideous outfits as did Lambiel.

To be fair, though, Lambiel basically blew past all considerations of good and bad in costuming and headed straight for his preferred destination of weird instead. But he had some nice ones too - Dralion, Poeta and La Traviata were good. I was also fond of Yagudin's costumes for Winter and The Man in the Iron Mask.

And count me in as another fan of Vanessa James's catsuits - all of them - and also her SP dresses for the past couple of years. The black strappy frock for Earned It and the hot blue one for Make It Rain were both glorious.

Gabriella's sleek and floaty Midnight Sonata dress was very elegant and really enhanced the program, which after all is the whole job of a costume. I sometimes think that Guillaume doesn't design as well for himself as he does for Gabi - there can be a disconnect between her costume and his - but his top for Moonlight Sonata worked really well this year, and their FD costumes for 16-17 were also a really good match. And heading in a different direction, Ivett Toth's headbanger SP outfit and Diana Nikitina's rock chick catsuit both got the job done and looked good doing it.

And Aiza Mambekova had fantastic looks for both SP and FS this year.

Kiira Korpi is the best for me, nobody comes even close, well maybe Gracie

Yes, when it comes to CONSISTENCY in looking good/having good costumes, Kiira was just amazing, also for me Korean Ladies have consistently some of the most amazing costumes out there: elegant and flattering both their physique and program. and Kiira's beauty is just ethereal:love:

i disagree... but let's put it this way... when you have shoma's assets, it's not obvious to find the right fit that remains PG13

But VELVET pants. I'm sure there are tons of different materials around.
Said that, his shirts are mostly gorgeous.

I know it's so minority opinion, but I love yuzu's "requiem of heaven and earth" costumes.

I hate this costume with all my heart. This absolute horror is the only thing that prevent me to watch this beautiful program as much i want.

Max Aaron costumes were a bit underwhelming too.

Best costume of the season: Carolina's neon green, sparkly onesie

I take it you are sarcastic... it was indeed a very disappointing choice, Caro is one of those to whom I won't grant consistency (bad or good) in that department, over the years she had some awesome costumes and some atrocious like the one you mentioned or Scheherazade's
so once again I put forward Kiira as the GOAT - her taste was just impeccable

The best costume of the Galas was Alina’s tigeress costume. Or not! What was she 🤔 thinking. Especially for a 15 year old to wear...All the old men were drooling.....sick.....

Strangely, I wasn't particularly impressed by the dresses in this compilation, with the exception of Zijun Li's grey one. 2017 was much better costume-wise.

From that compilation I like Gracie's black tango dress a lot .

As for the Yuzu debate... yes he has sported some 'interesting' choices, but at least he's never boring and he dares to wear actual costumes. 90% of the men just wear black pants and a random shirt. I'd rather him make bold choices than be boring as 90% of the men's field tbh

And let's say he's ahead of fashion too - his lavender ensemble for 'Let's Get Crazy' SP would be so 'in' this season as 'ultra violet' is a colour of the year . It was such a fun costume and program:)
