Yuzuru Hanyu: 2017-2018

He already had the 4A, I mean 2016 he did four rotations, it would be weird for him not to get the other half by now, can a quad ruin a triple? for example, him doing 4A can messed up the 3A technique? like having more forced and high on a 3A, I dont know how that works

Yes, a quad can mess with the triple, see his Lz. It's one of the reasons we were sure he was working on the 4Lz. But his 3A is fine.

He also didn't have the 4A in 2016 because yes, that one extra half is a huge deal. It's not the one unconquered quad for nothing. He did land it last off-season but how many times, unknown. With the harness, it is plural but without one, I still count as landed it once. So that's not really having a 4A. It's a good indication that it is doable, that's all.

He looked kinda tired and unenthusiastic since Mukuhari shows last week. I don't know why, I won't try to assume either but it's what I noticed.

I've also felt it but didn't want to start speculations. Anyhow, I hope everything is going well for him

for me he looks better relaxed and energetic than in Makuhari

Off topic, but I've heard that Plu-san did 3A twice in today's show, that's amazing!

Yes, I know :), thank you. And he landed in it in Makuhari, too. There is a video on it and that was perfect. Not bad from a 35.y.o old skater.

Well, it's Yuzuru. He probably squeezed some CM shootings, interviews for magazines etc. between rehersals. Maybe he even is working on new programs for next shows. Also I wouldn't be suprised if he started working on SP with Jeff (though they may start when Brian is in Japan and after new rules are announced).

And he wasn't jumping for months so it's no suprising that he is tired now when he started doing it again :)

I don't want to start the Lutz-discussion again, since I've really messed up last time :palmf::rolleye: But it's a matter of fact that the Lutz has always been his least consistent triple jump (even way before he had started practicing the 4Lz). So I don't think, that the 4Lz practice was the only reason for the shaky triples recently.
His 3Lo for example wasn't really affected by the 4Lo. He could reactivate it for Olympics without major issues. 3T and 3S are still solid, too.

Apart from that it could happen, that his 3A becomes less consistent because of the 4A, I don't know, but I pray that it doesn't  Yuzu's 3A is a trademark.

There was a very clear difference between Yuzuru's 3Lz before and after. His rhythm was messed up and that's because of consistently doing one revolution more in practice which caused him to then take off with less power and just manage the 3 rotations for the triple when he flunked it. It was visible.

And no, let's not start, please.

His axels are usually not that consistent and look a bit tilled off season and early start of the season :scratch3:
I see no reason to get worried, really.

I'm looking at the website of "Heroes and Future" held on the next weekend, and I have no idea what the show will be like. Maybe it is going to be like Stars on Ice? SEIMEI, Chopin, Swan, H&L, Requiem...my prediction is he may pick one of those, but what do you think? (And I noticed that the tickets are still there only on Friday which Yuzuru doesn't attend...:slink:)

I hope all skaters have great time in the last show of Kanazawa :)

My prediction may be H&L since the show is in Nagano, but I'm not sure what Yuzu would do for all the jumps in the program. Maybe he could just skate to Asian Dream Song as new and separate program.

He can do the same thing he did with his programs at CiONTU but now instead of removing every jumping pass he can do 3T, 4T and 3A. Or even maybe 3S. But can he use H&L in an ice show? They got permission to use it in competitions but how is it with ice shows?

I think this music matches figure skating and will be great for Yuzuru. Has any skater ever performed in this before?

No one to my knowledge has ever performed to any final fantasy music or video game music in general. Suitable music certainly doesn't end there. But no, everyone wants to keep doing warhorses and moulin rouge. Kevin Reynolds did Cowboy Bebop once but it wasn't particularly impressive.

I'm all for your prediction, and it would be great if he made a short version of H&L since he'll be able to do it in other shows  My second prediction is the short version of SEIMEI which he had performed in DOI of 2015, since he made WR in the same venue of Nagano. But I've just watched it and thought the edit sounded strange because we have gotten used to the original version so much, so I'm not sure if he wants to do it. He might just pick Chopin or Swan than SEIMEI.

I'm also curious about that. Speaking of the permission, when I asked about Blu-Ray of CiONTU in another place, a fan told me that it would be difficult to make since the manufacturer and seller will have to get permission for almost each piece of music
