Alena Kostornaia

Alena like the majority of Eteri girls does not pop the jumps performed in competition:confused2:.

They are trained (or drilled :dev2: ) not to pop jumps! Because popping is a very bad and costly habit. Once you start popping jumps you will always do it when you get insecure which is likely the case in competitions.

I presume it was typo, but with sugar coated, one cannot be sure :) But the win for Alina was completely rightful, and even if she would be second or third, She would still go to OG (Zhenya, Masha and Alina would be the same set). There wasn't need to "help" her.

Yes it was a typo. My point was I thought Alena should have won, she had the best skates. But Alina was the Olympic medal hopeful (since Alena was too young) so the boosted her scores. It would look bad for the medal contender not to win leading up to the Olympics. Had this not been an Olympic year, I think Alena might have won.

Alena is such a beautiful skater, probably my favorite Eteri skater. I heard a rumor she wants to learn a quad after her 3a, so that might be something we will see.

Not a rumor, she said herself she wants to jump the quad toe, but her trainers decided that she should wait a little longer.

She didn't say anything definite. and she likes to joke)
or
it may just need more time.
Sasha's 4T didn't go well at the beginning too.
They'll focus on 3A and will work towards 4T in a free time.

She lacks the rotation speed needed for quads. Technique is probably the main limitation but body type might also be a factor, the quadsters Sasha and Anna and have noticeably different proportions to Alena.

If Trusova is able to quad, so should Kostornaia. Trusova's rotation speed really isn't that special and Kostornaia's very close to her if not equal. Kostornaia probably wouldn't lose too much in jump height. Anna rotates far faster than either Trusova and Kostornaia, obviously.

Same. And I think it's a smart move from their part

That's what I think too, and it's pretty much what I hoped for.
I don't want to take away anything from Sasha, that she landed those quads at JWC is absolutely incredible, but I feel securer about Kostos 3A from the practice footage we have then Sashas quads. She finishes the rotation more comfortably, and she can already do it with nice entries. Add to that, when she turns senior, Kosto can add the 3A to her SP, not just the LP. And I'm also more on the cautious side when it comes to how the quad practice will affect skaters health and how they will be able to keep them growing up. We have seen that 3As are "manageable" for ladies (although very difficult), how quads will be there is... a complete unknown (especially multiple quads). So I'm very glad they are taking their time, focusing on the 3A for now and then looking at the quad after that.

I really can't wait to see Kostos 3A's in competition

We still can't understand for how much time Trusova and other girls can really skate with consistency with those quads, while growing.

I hope for Alena to focus on the 3A.

Yes if I was Alena I would focus on 3A. We don’t know if quads can be retained in adulthood but we do know that 3A is possible!

I‘d also rather have her focus on developing her artistry and getting a stable 3A. Trusova might jump quads now but I do think that it will become more difficult when she grows. Quads are dangerous. I‘m always worried when Sasha jumps them. I don‘t want any of them injured. With the 3A, we have seen ladies jump it. So, I‘m a bit more optimistic about that than the Quads.

Oh god no. Crimped hair is a trend I'm glad we left behind in the 90s.:drama: Looks cute still, but it gives me trauma from my own childhood.😂
