Anastasiia Gubanova

But so far all skaters on the JGP were literally perfect. Tarusina only had a problem with one of her spins. The rest - Kanysheva, Kostornaya, Shcherbakova all did incredibly well. I guess it will be the same for Trusova and Sinitsyna. At the test skates Nastya Tarakanova had some problems but it looks like she‘s going to her JGP event nonetheless. So, if she needs to do better than any of them it will be pretty tough. I thought she‘d get the benefit of the doubt since she‘s had problems with her boots and everything and her coach talked about her maybe getting a later event.

Yeah, Extremely tough, I know. The best scenario would be where she would replace Vasilieva at the 5th event because I doubt Russia is doing any changes for their Canada assignments. In any case, things don't look too good now but let's see what happens tomorrow.

Well... if she doesn‘t get one, we might be seeing her next year on the JGP circuit when Trusova, Kostornaya and Shcherbakova have moved up. Hoping for a good FS for her nonetheless!

Or we could see she her moving to seniors very soon. The last Rostelecom spot is still open and she should be one of the main contenders once it is determined that she will move to seniors.

Gubanova looked great... the FS will give a better picture, but I'm more confident of her future now... the 3Lz+3T is not her normal combination but it's the one she has to do for the JGP. But I think she's going to get stuck in figure skating purgatory... neither junior or senior grand prix event as the Cup of Russia TBD will probably go to Samodurova.

It's a long shot, but there are TBD spots for France and Finland... but those will probably go to non-Russian European skaters. *edit* There's already 3 russian skaters at each event... so she can't be picked *edit*

Regardless, not sure if the deadline is past(likely is) but I'd try to get in at Finlandia if the JGP is not going to happen...

Its really tough competition on the senior and Junior levels and I wonder if Anastasia and some of the other Russian girls caught in the middle of it all have thought about changing citizenship in order to make an olympic team. Hmmm. I wish a country dominant in the rankings could get more entries than 3.

Yeah, the 1st combo was great and she did good overall but I don't think she will get JGP events.

She was underscored here if you ask me.

She's lovely. Dress looks great. Like both programs (except the steps in the SP). Good luck to her :agree:

Pretty much yes to all of this. I like the FS but I don’t think her new coaching arrangement is doing her any favors. Is it too late to change back?

Srsly...her and Sima training together would make me a happy panda

Nastya Gubanova's FS from today.

That first jump combo made me go

Excellent LP. Lovely. Yes that first jump combo was scary tough and nastya nailed it. I like this dress better than her SP dress.

She was scored low, no?

Nastya is buried by the great younger Russian juniors and the great Russian seniors in the mind of her federation. Unless the isu expands their max of 3 per country she will be stuck in no mans land. It may be time fr Nastya to consider dual citizenship and find a second country. Her career does not matter to Rusfed. She may never get a fair shake with her federation.

No, she can stay where she is. She just needs more practice time. And her and Danielien and Kutovoy are cute together and that makes me happy :p

She is being coached by a coach who coached an olympic champion. Nastya has worked with Buianova for a couple months give them a couple years. No? Yes?

Her FS is gorgeous.
Give the Buyanova arrangement some time, it's only been a few months. If she can gain consistency in her jumps, the marks will steadily increase.

Just saw this. The last spin was a bit “what was that?” but with her ability honestly she can easily be national champion in any country, except her own country

her long program is beautiful. Short program needs some changes...starting with the costume LOL but is she going to get a JGP? I sure hope so.

I also dont get Nastyas lovely LP getting 6 thumbs down on youtube. Is it because of her shorty short dress? Her skating was fine.

It's YouTube, people thumbs down video for who knows what reason  I wouldn't read too much into it.
