All the jumps for Nathalie W. were so high. She holds her positions and spirals beautifully. Lost control on her final jump and fell, but that was also a very high jump. I like her.

I like this program for Alaine. I think a bit of edge and aggressiveness could do good things for her always-problematic confidence, as opposed to so many romantic soft programs, as she's done before. Even with the errors, it felt like an improvement for her in terms of commitment and recovery? Nice double axel.

Too bad about the jump issues, but I really liked this program for Alaine! She seems to be performing better, and she has good speed and ice coverage. She has so many great qualities; I hope that she will be able to put together a great performance in the FS! She just seems to get a 'deer in the headlights' look going into the jumps (which I'm sure she can do easily).

I liked Natalie's skating today. Too bad that she fell - it would be well above 60 otherwise and a well-deserved lead.

Ashley Lin has been the only one to skate clean so far. Her axel is huge. But her skating is rough and unrefined. She needs a lot of work to get past 25 pcs.

Alaine is Alaine - she was fast and expressive before. And she fell from jumps as well. May be something will change and she will be able to fully realize her programs' potential. Then she will become both a lovely skater and a strong competitor.

Lately I've started singing "Maybe This Time" from Cabaret when it's Alaine's turn to skate... It's gotta happen, happen sometime, maybe this time... okay, maybe not this time. If only all her jumps were as beautifully solid as that opening 2A.

She lacks fluidity in her movements - they are somewhat jerky for the lack of a better word. I just saw Nana Araki in junior GP. She received 24 pcs and she arguably has better skating skills. Well, different competition, I know. But Brookley got 24 and Nathalie who skated very well today got 26. So 25 for her is fair.
