2018 Rostelecom Cup Pairs Short Program

P/K did it! Yes, they are not fluent still, they are not so eye-catchy as some other pair, but being so young and handling the pressure of home ice they were very good. :hap10:

Pairs is such a heart-attack discipline. Even though she landed the throw, it felt like he swung her into a different dimension and I thought she'd fall HARD. Good for them for such a great performance.

P/K may not be to my taste, but boy are they technically strong.

They have the tricks but no polish. They tend not to finish moves. But that was a really good sbs spin combo.

In America, they look like a "corn fed" couple. Cute, very boy/girl next door. I don't know what the Russian equivalent would be. And they skate that way. It's fresh and young but again, lacks polish.

Still a team to keep an eye on.

They're not my cup of tea, but the lack of polish doesn't surprise me. She's still 15, and that's awfully young for a senior pair woman. I expect they'll gain polish in the next year or two as they mature.

They have so much promise. It's very impressive.

Wow, WeakAnkles, you have just put in words why they just never seem to click with me.

Also, I think it's Liza Tuktamysheva commentating on the Russian stream

Hi everyone, just came back from work, too late in order to catch my faves, P/K, but I am so happy to read that they did so well! Nice job :yahoo:

On the brighter side of things, I am excited to watch the last group! Wishing clean skates to everyone, and a great performance for T/M, I have a soft spot in my heart for them

Haven't been paying that close of attention to the Russian pairs (or any of them) in general so far this season....is Robin still working with Mozer? Has he been in the K&C with any pairs?

Given their age right now, P/K are going to be a major threat in the future if they stay healthy. Unpolished right now, but good technical ability and lots of potential otherwise. Very S/H in their early senior career.

She held onto that throw like a champ! It was really impressive!

Oh totally. I was just all finish the element and THEN move on to the next one. He's worse about that than she is. It's a young team/skater's mistake. They need to have a chat with Michele Kwan about the difference finishing moves makes on the overall impression. She'd set them straight.

:)
