2018 Rostelecom Cup Pairs Short Program

58 isn't bad considering they missed a WHOLE element. They actually scored 59 at SLC Classic when they had all the elements, which speaks to progress overall.

Ashley actually fell on the throw at SLC Classic. What saved the score here was them getting a level on the twist, which seemed generous as she very clearly landed on Tim on the catch.

A/W was great in the first half, then they got out of sync with the SBS spins and they started to lose steam...

YAY THEY DID GOOD

but why was the Th3F negative GOE? it looked fine? a little small maybe but fine? given i've seen 2ft throws given +GOE?!

The judges always seem to be so hard on the Aussies. It's like the Shibs after they took Bronze at their first Worlds. Like they can't forgive them for winning Junior Worlds and now they're exacting revenge.

My point is that they seem to be making progress on their elments, 3Z fluke mistake aside.

oh he stumbled, i was paying attention to her not him

Good performance for A/W, I think they are continuously improving and that's a great thing for them. Little mistakes on spin and lifts, but she held on to that landing after the throw jump like a true fighter!

only one point above a team with no throw jump. pffffffffffft.

Yay, my favorite pair! Go Miriam and Severin!

I remember when they started out in Seniors. She dressed like a gym teacher -- all she was missing was a whistle and a lanyard. And they were just uhm not fun to watch.

They've really come a long long long way.

One thought on things so far: I never expected Pairs to be the best event when evened out.

Got here just in time for the Aussies and I just checked the scores for the men

Yup it was quite shocking for me too. Did not watch the event because I was at work but when I saw the scores I was like...what the ...happened here?

Z/K have really come a long way. Love them  Not exactly their absolute best outing, but good enough.

Lovely skate for Ziegler and Kiefer. Unfortunate little mistake on the death spiral. While their elements could be bigger they are skating with more confidence this season it seems.
