Bad move!!!!

I haven't seen a lot of it this year, but the obligatory bent wrist-Egyptian-heiroglyph style that so many skaters feel is necessary when they are using music with any kind of eastern theme is beyond annoying.

Christine Zukovsky is one of these. While skating to her Lawrence of Arabia FS, she did those weird Egyptian arms during her spiral sequence.

But the queen is Kimmie.

Oh yes! Like last year's FS
See, I think it's because no one has the "balls" that Katarina Witt had--when she skated to middle eastern music, she played a belly dancer...

then again, I don't think the current crop of girls should try that.

And this fan spiral...I had to find a photo!

I am with those against the fan spiral - they are just not nice at all.

I am not a fan of the butt spin either, where the fellas are in a sit position, then holding the blade they straighten their spinning leg, so that they are spinning face down/butt up - it's just not right IMO!

I'm also not a fan of the forward inside sit spin - I was always taught it was poor technique, and it looks sloppy to me!

Another one - I think the way most skaters go into a donut spin is so ugly that it's hard to put it out of your mind and enjoy the actual spin. I don't mean to pick on Kimmie because it's very common but the LP she just did is a perfect example. She drops her knee SO low - ugh. Talk about dog peeing.

ETA: Little Ms. Flatt could give Kimmie lessons on this one.

I love Jeff, but do you mean this one? It looks so painful! Plus the skater isn't spinning on the edge--normally they're rising on the toe pick, which an old coach told me was BAAAD

Well, Michelle's edge looks lovely as usual! Can't really tell about Tara since she looks to be on a flat.

Ok...its the most fun week of the skating year (in my humble opinion) when we get to see new faces. That said, youth brings bad choices. WITHOUT naming names, I thought it would be fun IN A LIGHTHEARTED MANNER to name the moves we love to hate...bad choreography that makes us cringe!!

For me, my number one pet peeve is when someone pretends to play a musical instrument during their program...AAUGHHHH. My three year old does that when he hears music...it shouldnt be in a skating program!!!!

I don't know it worked well for Kurt Browning when he skated to "Tequila". I remember seeing Kurt for the first time at Skate Canada and he really made this piece of music come to life. Of course, Kurt can skate to anything and make it look great.

But lad, that's Kurt! Kurt can skate to the Chicken dance and make it look like a masterpiece!

- I don't like Jazz or show tune music.
- I don't like 'hammed up' programs.
- Don't pretend to play an instrument, shoot a gun, or punch someone.
- Props for landing that jump but, please don't pump your fist in the air.
- Tacky walmart looking scrunchies or pins in hair.
- Shaky spirals.
- Traveling spins.
- Men who don't have the flexibility for catch-foot.
- Excessive arm flailing.

I knew there was another move. Since we're not naming names, I will only say that one of the men in the 90's had what I thought of as the Chicken Dance move -- standing on the ice, legs bent, knocking his knees together like he was using an invisible thighmaster or something. It looked especially bizarre done to classical music.

Sounds like Oda, lol - but only in exhibitions, luckily.

Oh, I know *exactly* who this has to be. LOLOL And what a perfect description about the invisible thighmaster:rofl:

I don't like to see skaters smiling all the time even when the music is supposed to be sad. It's ridiculous. I also hate the death spirals everyone is doing this year, with the hand changing and the free leg up. Ugly is not bad enough. It's horrendous! The first time I saw it was when Shen and Zhao competed for this first time in GP this season and I thought it was a mistake.

That D/S is ugly, but sadly, the ISU required it in the SP...
