Alena Kostornaia

Announcer said: "representing Sambo-70". So she is a product of the same school? Dudakov works with them on jumps, SS and stuff too?
She joined Sambo-70 in 11/12 but trained in a different department under Elena Zhgun until summer 2017. So, she's not an Eteri/Dudakov product.

Alena finished 16th out of 18 participants in Russian Junior Nationals in Feb, 2017 (Zagitova won it: https://www.fsrussia.ru/results/1617/junnat1617/CAT002RS.HTM) and decided to move to Eteri team.

16/17 programs, prior to the move:

yes. She moved to Eteri right after this competition. While she was in a trial-period with Eteri she competed a few times under her old school name.

Let me recap. She started skating at "Umka" with coach Marina Cherkasova. After 3-4 years she decided to skate competitively and switched to coach Elena Zhgun at Sambo-70 school. So Alyona skated with her on Tchaikovskoy ice-rink for 5 years and in February 2017 she decided to move to Eteri's group. While officially she still was temporary competing for Tchaikovskoy/Zhgun (since they had a competitive programs ready for the season already) she was already de facto Eteri/Khrustalny girl since Feb 2017. Thing is Eteri and Elena Zhgun both are fs teams within Sambo-70 school. So, school is the same, just different ice rinks and coaches for Alyona.

I see. But she still was and is within the same sport school, Alyona just switched coaches and ice rinks. So since Elena Zhgun is also a Sambo-70 coach that means Alyona already is with the Sambo-70 school for at least 6 years. So, technically, she is Sambo-70 girl, just skated with different coach before Khrustalny ice rink. Eteri/Dudakov/Daniil started working with her since Feb 2017. She already was a good and beautiful skater judging by her earlier videos (but lacking consistency sometimes from what I heard). So her lutz (borderline flutz?) technique coming not from Eteri/Dudakov, but from Elena Zhgun.

I’ve always wondered how much one on one time each skater in that group gets with the coaches when the group is so large.

Alena is a pure natural in figure skating and all it entails like living through the music emotion and feeling. Yes her coach is great but this young lady Alena is her own creation.

Just have to make this shallow statement:

She is BEAUTIFUL.
Beautiful as in stunning. She could easily be a model. I watched the interview they did with her at the test skates and apart from staring at her I was impressed by her choice of words.

"We train for us, because we know what we want from this life, the coaches can only assist ."
Watching it back to back with Trusova's interview (really like Sasha) it was so glaring how mature Alena is, like listening to a child vs a young woman

And she has innate posture and lines that cannot be taught. The only other singles female skater with that kind of upper body movement I've seen is Yuna Kim.

Heh....

She mentioned she gained 3cm in height (~149.5cm now) and her 3A was lost. She trained it a lot but landed clearly for about 2/5.
Nothing is ready if ever be, no 3A after the last summer vacations.

Also said she is going school studies for two more years and right after the graduation she wants to attend a medical school (neurologist). She plans to share time between M/S and FS.

- My grandma asked me if I want to visit a morgue? I agreed.

P.S. Poor child, she doesn't understand yet what is it to be a M/S student.

Is she planning to continue training the 3A? I don't speak Russian.

She doesn't say whether she plans on continuing to train it. She just talks about the circumstances surrounding the video of her doing one that came out over the summer. Apparently that was one of only a few successful attempts. She says she grew 3 cm. over the summer, and that made it more difficult for her to jump 3A when she returned from her summer vacation.

no. She said that till the summer they've tried to stabilise her 3A and at the time she did totally cleanly every 2 out of 5 attempts (other were step-outs or falls). 3A was quit stable till the summer. After the summer break she had some problems.
And, in another interview she said they're working on 3A but slowly. They can't force it too much during the season.

no, she said that on that video was her second successful attempt. Than till the sammer they've tried to stabilise her 3A and than she did totally cleanly every 2 out of 5 attempts (other were step-outs or falls). 3A was quit stable till the summer. Than she had some problems.

Oops. My translation was a bit convoluted, so I couldn't tell if she said she'd only made a few attempts, or if out of all the attempts she made, she was landing a few consistently every time. Thanks for the clarification.
