2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Agreed. Funny thing is alot of non Russian fans post here. But they have to get their kicks in now because next year will be a different story with Eteris angels on the loose plus Alina plus Zhenya plus Liza plus Sofia etc! Their great talent and depth will be especially envied by Japan Canada America etc! That my friends is undeniable.

Man don't say things like that. I don't know if you've noticed or not, but more than a half of the Russian Ladies fans here are not Russian. The posts above aren't due to people not being Russian and wanting to be mean to them. It's about people being too negative (and some wanting to get their kicks in now ).

People always have negative to say even though they're NOT an expert. This thread is making me sad.

I read Scott512 as "non Russian-fans" (and I totally agree with him on that) not as you have understood it, "non-Russian fans". Correct me if I'm wrong, Scott'

3 spots are okay, but a medal would be also nice:)

I'm almost certain a Russian woman will medal, if not 2. They're too driven and/or too consistent and/or their PCS is extremely high to not at least be in the hunt. And with Osmond and Kostner out, it's easier.

However, that certainty was greater last year (even with Med absent at the time) than this year and yet we were all surprised. This year, hopefully the Russian ladies have let their bad skates out earlier in the season and haven't used up their best skates of the season (Alina in her CS, Samo at Euros, Med at Russian Cup).

There's also a tons of time leading up to Worlds, so a skater could get it together (or fall apart, e.g. injuries) in that time.

... so many clairvoyants ...

Here are my predictions. You can take this to the bank.

1. Sofia Samodurova will medal. How? By following the advice of Rudyard Kipling:

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming you for it ...

(OK, leave out the part about "be a man, my son.")

2. This thread will hit 1000 pages by next week.

jealousy is such and ugly common thing here:laugh: My Russian dream team was alina, evgenia and liza but unfortunately that's not going to happen. Sofia can absolutely help Russia keep the three spots. I wish all of them the best especially my fave evgenia.

Jealousy regarding who and what? Isn't this just a Golden Skate thread hosting discussion among internet strangers? I'm curious and would like to know since it's apparently common, yet I don't see it.

Do you guys see a chance for a russian sweep?

I was rooting for Liza but now that I befriended the thought of Med at Worlds, I wish everyone goes clean and maybe there is just a little chance?

At Junior Worlds, but Senior... :scard8:

Never a sweep.

I love the russian ladies but Rika is for me the clear favourite.
Zhenya and Sofia I could see top 6.
And Tuktik I could actually see on the podium :(

Buuut let's wait and see. Everyone has always different opinions

It seems in all of this many people are not happy with the team so I will only believe Liza is not going when it happens xD Everything is possible these days aaand in russia

That is asking for Nemesis with a vengeance... remember how often similar claims have suddenly found the ice more treacherous, folks. And all these little girls are already looking at their use-by dates not that far away. So can you stop jinxing them earlier than necessary?

Actually, I think Anna Tarusina might be even more consistent
Sofia's been incredible this whole season, but I can't remember Anna making a mistake since... I don't know when, actually. Perfect this season and last, iirc.

Anna Tarusina's last fall in competition was from 2016/17 Moscow Championships on 24 Feb 2017 (UR fall on 3F in the free skate).
Since then, she had skated 18 clean competitions, or in other words, 36 clean programs.

36 programs without a fall or stepout. This season, she has received two UR call, one on 3Lz in JGP Ljubljana, one on her 1Eu in CS Inge Solar Memorial.

Yes, after the traffic accident in France in summer 2016 she had surgeries on her head and knee. She just started competing again in early Feb 2017 and that last time she fell was her third competition since returning to competitive skating.

Yes. it is a fantastic record. Anna was on her way to her very first JGP. Davydov was also injured. Anna was worst off of the six, she sustained injuries to both legs, her arm, her skull (metal plate) and suffered a detached retina, which I believe troubled her for quite a while. Nevertheless, she looked cheerful, even in her convalescence.

And these days Anna evinces such enjoyment when she skates. I think she feels blessed.
