Does anyone have any news as to why

I thought John Hamer and Jenna McCorkell were competing for GB? Surely if they're injured there are replacements that can be sent?

I've read elsewhere online that Jenna McCorkell isn't going due to an ankle injury. She reportedly was supposed to compete at the International Challenge Cup in The Hague last weekend, in order to score a certain amount of points so as to qualify for Worlds, but withdrew. John Hamer supposely needed to score a certain number of points at Europeans, but didn't. So NISA isn't sending any singles skaters, unfortunately. :sheesh:

It seems that NISA never learn. I thought that for once they starting to get their act together and realise that none of our skaters will learn anything by being comparatively big fish in tiny ponds on the national scene. In order to progress they need international exposure and need to be sent to worlds. John has a fighting attitude and he would have fought to make the cut for the LP at worlds, but what to do NISA do? Leave him at home. Its pathetic. And then they ask themselves why figure skating in the UK is in the state it is. Haig Oundjian is an unsupportive pillock who i've witnessed first hand murmering disgraceful comments about skaters during their perofmances at nationals.

Just to point out pillock is a harsher way of saying idiot...apparently it has no wikipedia entry. It is still (i think ) fairly polite and i don't think many people (save for the person being called one!) would take offence.
FYI: when you look up the etymology of pillock you get ballocks - pillock is buried in the latter's Wikipedia entry - apparently it's a derivative.

Opinions differ, but I don't think the clergymen would have been amused. :p

But it's a colorful term and I plan to find a use for it!

I think you should petition the mods to change this thread title to:
Bollocks! No GBR singles skaters at worlds! ;)

  Do you know i nearly said in my previous post that you could even get away with saying it in front of a member of the clergy and then thought better of it!

John Hamer hasn't been selected, which is a totally appalling decision by NISA, :disapp: but Jenna has w/d of her own accord, as she feels not quite ready after a foot injury.
There's an article at Absolute Skating with the full details. ;)

BTW Ant, will you be skating here in future?

Thanks for the news on Jenna.

YEs i will be skating at Altrincham but unfortunately (for me!) it seems predominantly a hockey rink with no patch ice. I don't think they even have any figure coaches at the rink so at best i think it will be the crowded public sessions. But an extra session a week will be better than nothing. I'll keep getting coached out of Deeside.
