Well, they should celebrate their own good skating and placement here, that is what i wanted to say... I personally care more about skaters themselves than the country they represent, so i would celebrate them as a skaters in first place eace:

Not in pairs it isn't. US success in pairs has been missing a lonnngg time. We have not had a Worlds medal since Ina & Zimmerman 2002.

And for Tim and Ashley, it clinches two GP spots too. Which is very good, considering Ashley is only her third year skating pairs, and it is their first Worlds. Not mentioning Ashley is 167 cm tall, too, and they are coached in Texas by Ashley's parents, not at some center of pairs excellence, although with some help from Nina Mozer.



Not quite up to their 4CC result, but very good for them.

Nope. They were celebrating getting two pairs spots for USA. That was their number one priority.

Ashley and Tim felt the pressure, and they skated up to it. So many beautiful elements that (like with many of the other teams tonight) I thoroughly enjoyed the program. I found it so smooth, so beautiful, so harmonious with each other and with the music and everything. Great pairs elements, great spirit, great progression.

I have a feeling many other US Pairs are celebrating at home, right along with them. With tears, maybe. I'm so happy and proud. Ashley and Tim are my babies, after all, and have been since they paired up.

They're progressing nicely. And they look well matched. Tim actually has some grace, unlike so many Pairs men of the past who looked like they stumbled into the rink after their real jobs as truck drivers and longshoremen.

irs actually a lot harder getting two spots than maintaining one. Last year was a dark time in pairs. I'm hoping we've turned a corner and will someday beat that strange Red Sox like curse we've got going.

Why is it stupid? They are part of Team USA, skating for their country, not just themselves, and their achievement means that the US will be able to send two teams to Worlds next year.
