2019 World Championships Free Dance

Time for some interrupted clubbin' with the Hungarian team

Anna YANOVSKAYA / Adam LUKACS
Hungary
Music: Yello medley: "Move Dance Be Born," "The Rhythm Divine" feat. Shirley Bassey, "On the Run"
Choreography by: Nikolai Morozov
Costumes: Black pleather slit skirt, black pleather and shear top with racer's back for her; black short sleeve turtleneck and black pants sunday
for him

Program Layout:

And we're back clubbing with Anna and Adam.

Chor Char Step Seq that says We're here to PARRRRRRRRRRTYYYY! 1.78 goe
Twizzles with interconnecting steps. Slow slow slow. Soooo SLOOOOOOOOW. Level 4 for both, 1.09 goe
Stationary Lift - Level 4, .75 goe
Tempo change. Time to cool down after all that work!
NT St Seq - The problem is she's in a different league from him so it looks imbalanced. It looks dumbed down for his sake. Level 2 for both, .97 goe
SL Lift --> Ro Lift - Starts with a flip into a cantilever; Levels 4 and 4, 1.27 goe
Dance Spin with cartwheel exit. Level 4, .45 goe
Tempo change and we're back clubbing...
Chor Twiz - no goe given
Diag St Seq - almost none of which is done in hold and is pretty basic. Level 3, .19 goe. Generous level.
Choreo Spinning Movement - put some oomph into it please. .83 goe

For a club piece, that lacked a lot of energy. Dancing for the comatose!
She is just in a completely different league from him, so it makes for a very imbalanced program. Two sure signs of dumbing down: doing step sequences to a slow(er) tempo and not in hold. And they're doing both.

Score: 94.85

And they're like two strangers in the K&C. Weird.

Better done at Euros (no twizzles mistakes and all), but what a lovely program. I am rooting for these two

Well, they seem pleased with that performance. But oh my they are soooooo sloooooow. Nothing against him whatsoever, because he's obviously trying really hard, but I do wish she could find a partner more on her level.

edit: uhhhhh computer problems. That was about Anna and Adam, not the lovely Finns!

Juulia TURKKILA / Matthias VERSLUIS
Finland
Music: Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, K. 466, I.Allegro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, K. 466, II. Romance by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Choreography by: Pasquale Camerlengo, Massimo Scali
Costumes: Very romantic pink dress with flower appliques and sequins for her; black pants with blue shirt with blue and green beading, sheer sleeves for him. Would Mozart approve of mancleavage? Discuss.

Program Layout:

It's Mozart, yes, but I give them credit: this isn't P/C redux.

Long series of steps into
Twizzles with interconnecting steps between sets. Level 4 for her 3 for him. .48 goe. He was pumping through them. Looked a bit herkyjerky
SL Lift - you can see her ballet training; she has marvelous posture. And it's musical. Level 4, .81 goe
Tempo change into
NT St Seq. - it's a lovely low after the high of the opening. Twizzle out. See, musical highs and lows are your friends skaters. Level 2 for her, 3 for him. 1.10 goe
Choreo spin to opposite rink side from the judges (clever!). 1.83 GOE And then right into the
Chor Char Step Seq - Tempo change and it's tender and ACTUALLY REVEALS THEIR RELATIONSHIP. Thank you. 2.13 goe
Curve lift with a lovely position. Level 4, .81 goe Then steps into the
Dance Spin - nice but watch the traveling. It could be more centered. Level 4, 1.03 goe
Diag Step Seq. - VERY little of which is actually done in hold. Nor is it the most difficult step seq (they're ready for more difficulty). Level 2 1.80 goe
Rotational Lift - Big speed. Level 4 1.14 goe
Choreo Lift - lovely 2.08
and into final dance/romance pose (love her very balletic arms) .

Still love this program. Will still probably be underscored in PCS. Still my top candidate for Most Improved Team.

A big round of applause for a breakthrough-to-the-next-tier season.

Score: 102.11 and a SB

I guess as long as the nipples are covered then this outfit doesn't violate the rules?

You go, Anonymoose! Participate in that democracy! :peace: (unlike 60% of my countrymen :palmf:)

Yes! Although it is compulsory here, which I think is a good thing, even if I did just stand in a very slow and hot line which made me cry because I'm a wuss

Almost home though! Did I miss anyone good?
