2019 World Championships Free Dance

Well I had a scare there! My internet ran out of bandwidth! Fortunately, I was able to purchase more data and I didn't miss too much of Weapo

Good luck Madison and Zach!

They changed their opening!

Well, after my usual crying jag from first pose to last lift I can only confirm that for me it is a special program that really reached deep to my sensitivity, sense of art & aesthetic, not even regarding ID only, but in general. Program for ages to re-watch, carrying such subtle, impressionist pallete of emotion, shades of movements/gestures, unhurried in blossoming, a rarity where silence, tranquility plays such a big, significant part of presenting the story. Maybe not the loudest, most effective performance, but speaking volume when we allow it to do it.
Yes, you've captured it beautifully. I couldn't agree more. A unique and sensitive work of art that touches a deep place both in the conception and their performances.

Kaitlyn WEAVER / Andrew POJE
Canada
Music: “S.O.S. d'un terrien en detresse" by Lue Plamodon, Michel Berger, arranged by Maxime Rodriguez as a tribute to Denis Ten
Choreography by: P. Camerlengo
Costumes: Beaded white halter-topped body suit with sheer white overlay skirt for her; black pants and black shirt with shoulder sparkles for him

Program Layout:

Stationary Lift - same one as G/F. Just saying... Level 4, 1.38 goe
NT St Seq - in a circular pattern. Lovely sync and musicality. Level 3 for her 4 for him. 2.49 goe
SL Lift - I'm normally not fond of "step on a boot and it's a 'lift'" but this is pretty spectacuular, what with her full split and him skating backwards. Level 4, 1.23 goe
Tempo Change
Diag St Seq - Twizzle exit out. Level 4, 2.90 goe
Not quite a Tempo Change, more a Tempo Evolution and into
Twizzles (aka Andrew's Bete Noir) - Level 3 for her, 4 for him. 1.09 goe. Lost sync.
Dance Spin - Level 4, 1.29 goe
Tempo Change
Ro Lift - on a musical crescendo. They're old pros these two. Level 4, 1.38 goe
Chor Spin - lovely lovely lovely. 3.32 goe
Chor Char St Seq - 3.15 goe
Chor Lift - 3.60 goe

I'm still somewhat ambivalent about this dance. It's arty, but it's not as self-consciously "Arty" as their previous programs of the last quad. It's certainly pretty, but for me it wasn't much more than that. It was smoothr than at 4CC, so I'll give them that. I think the "tribute" aspect is carrying more weight than the dance itself.

Score: 122.78

"9 years in the top 5".

:eeking:

I think I recall Duhamel saying on TSL that Kaitlyn was just as obsessed with points and stats and the sport itself as much as her!

Sacrilege I know, but I feel like they were a little off tonight. We've seen them do this Vincent Program better. But it is still lovely.

So I'm going to stay up through hubble/donahue to see what happens with that stationary lift- or if they've cut it.

This is the first time I see this program live, and i agree that it felt kind of off for some reason. I was expecting to connect more with it
I must admit, it wasn’t the best version of Vincent...

And that, to me, is all kinds of awesome. The stillness, in the midst of grief—I think nobody does emotion like WP.

It is not my favourite program, but the way it operates on mixing fragility and strenght is mesmerizing. And boy, can they emote, engage into performance...

Careful now, her mother made it

...that got me in trouble earlier :slink:

 Still hate the dress lol...

Actually now that I think about it, I dislike most of her dresses. There's obvious skill and craftsmenship in the details but maybe they need to try something else for next season.
