Evgenia Medvedeva

I read in Yuzu's FF that it will be shown on June 22 in TV Asahi in Japan. I am just hoping for even a short clip

BTW - your avatar! Two of my favorite FS ladies!:luv17:

I am greedy, I want to watch the whole thing. But of course, a short clip would be good too. The whole performance would be better, of course. I‘m keeping my fingers crossed we‘ll get to see it soon. The lyrics of this song just fit her so well. I didn‘t expect a new ex but I‘m beyond excited.

Tracy‘s one of my favourite coaches. And the moment at the Russian Cup Final was just so awesome, I felt like I had to pay them tribute.

I just like her mindset. She always looks like the calm and collected and caring mama of the team and yet she can skate after her students and tell them they‘re not tired and after all they‘re not rugby players, they won‘t get hit and to go on and skate on. I love that.

This is probably one of my favourite interviews.

And this quote gets me every time. I love the attitude to sports in this Team, I love how they can both push the skaters and care for them. And I love the athletes of course, I think they all have something that makes figure skating so special:

“You know there’s been a lot of good moments, but watching these guys, like today, we did a stroking session, and on Fridays, the younger group can come on the ice. And to see people like Yuzu, and Jun, and Evgenia, and Jason skating and sharing the ice with some of the younger skaters was just beautiful. And to be on the ice and skating with them, that’s one of my favorite moments of the year. And what finished it off was after we sort of said our thank you’s, Evgenia and Yuzu went and got a bucket of snow and the little shovel, and started fixing the ice. And then a couple of the little kids, I said, “now see? we take care of each other, right? We’re not pampered you know? We take care.”

^ I’m so excited to see it! Is this the first exhibition program that Stéphane choreographed for Evgenia? There’s an old Stéphane interview where he said:

“Actually, I was very impressed by Evgenia's performance yesterday [short program at Ondrej Nepela Trophy]. Even though she is the strongest skater at the moment, I see this fragility and it makes me so moved and emotional. It's so beautiful, that's why I congratulated her. The jumps are great, but the emotions she is bringing on the ice are something really special. I hope that we will see her for a long time and we will enjoy her skating and her passion.”

That captures how I feel about Evgenia, too! Seems like a great match!

Re Tracy - she’s so fabulous - I feel like she’s got the perfect balance of being supportive but holding someone accountable. We all love her :)

I can't wait to see this exhibition. I love that Lambiel choreographed it. And I want to see the dress.!!

I read that she skated the program wearing her Experience dress. I love that dress, so I changed my Avatar again.

Euler combos are definitely coming. Which combos people were talking about thay she should add? It was an euler combo, just don’t remember which...

The video you quoted is from pre-Olympics I believe. I don't think we'll be seeing her doing these crazy combos anymore, and it's for the best. That said, she definitely could add an euler combo ;)

Looks like Worlds 2017 Gala practice to me but I‘m not entirely sure.

But you‘re definitely right, those combinations were cool but not necessary and it‘s more important to look after the body. I‘d rather she did a few extra 3Ts/3Los in her run-throughs to make sure she has a backup should things go wrong. (That‘s, btw, what I always liked about Team Tutberidze - they are 100% prepared. Just remember Zhenya at Worlds 2016) But not more than that.

About Euler combos... well, if she ever managed to pull off a 4S + 3 3/3 combo layout, she‘d need to do one. To be honest, I hate Euler combos with a passion. I think they look clumsy and as if the skater tried to hide a mistake. Not even Hanyu‘s convince me and he has some of the nicer looking ones.

But regardless of my preferences... Zhenya‘s 3S is good, so she should be able to do a solid one. Of course she has never done one in competition, I believe, so it would be something new. I‘m very curious about the layout for this season anyway, especially what they‘re going to do with the lutz. (I don‘t think quad will be ready so soon)

With Shoma going to train under Eteri, at least for the summer, I was thinking of last year when Med left for Orser. It seemed like some of the Russians on this forum were critical of her because she was using Russian federation money to pay for a foreign coach. In general, it sounds like a lot of the hate she got back in Russia was because she was leaving for a Western coach. I have feeling there isn't the same outrage from Eteri receiving Japanese funds.

Another thing I notice is that when she is interviewed by a Russian news source, she has to almost overly reaffirm that she's misses Russia. I don't doubt that's true, it just that the reporters are trying to bait her into saying something as innocuous as saying she likes living in Toronto and Canada is a great place to live. Of course the critics would interpret that to mean that she likes Canada more than Russia.

I think the drama about Zhenya leaving Eteri for Brian is part of Russia’s lingering resentment of the “West”. When the USSR was collapsing in the late 80’s & early 90’s, many of their top athletes and coaches left for fame & fortune in the US & Canada. It damaged their national pride. It would have been much, much worse if Brian was based in the US.

:sad14: Johnny Weir posted today that Evgenia got a very disrespectful message today from a "fan".

It's cruel and unforgivable. Just believe she sees all the posts of people outraged by it and supporting her (and there are a lot just after a couple of minutes after Johnny's post).
