The Billingham Festival is dedicating the whole of its eight-day programme to the Olympic champion, who would have been 70 this year.

The Birmingham-born star is being honoured next month at the 55th Billingham International Folklore Festival of World Dance, where leading figures in skating and dance will come together to pay tribute.

His skating style drew from ballet and modern dance and is still revered to this day.

I see that one of the performers is the marvelous Ye Bin Mok, the former competitive skater known for her (dare I say it) "balletic" choreography and presentation. :)

Thanks to poster "Artistic Skaters" at FSU for spotting this.

I got to see her live about 4 years ago in a show. She was wonderful.

So was Mark Hanretty, who is also performing.

Aha! That explains why Lorna Brown had uploaded the same photo of Ye-Bin to Facebook a few days ago. Have to be honest, I hadn't come across her before, but after seeing that photo, I just had to find out more about her!

By the way, am I late to the party, or did anybody else know that Ye-Bin got married to British Pairs skater Tom Naylor a few years ago?

Now I had to look up Tom Naylor (not the footballer of the same name ;) )

Aye, these pesky footballers having the same name as skaters! I have the same problem every time I look up Ashley Cain. It shouldn't be allowed... :p

You know, when I was having a nosey around, I saw that 5 years ago (before they got married) Tom had uploaded a video of him and Ye-Bin in training with the following caption:

"There's a little pair-girl in everyone! Proud of the progress lifelong soloist Yebin Mok has made :) "

Here she is doing a routine with Adam Blake, i.e. somebody that isn't her husband:

I wish she had considered competing again, but this time in Pairs for Great Britain. Let's face it, we could do with an additional partnership. And it is not as if they are too old for it. Hey, I would say they are the right age for Pairs! :agree:

The show is also coming to Sheffield - I have my tickets! Mark Hanretty is the star, I believe.
