i saw this video after another poster mentioned it in the ballet thread. I was shocked. Kimmie usually has nerves of steel but there was only one clean triple in the program. I think she was trying to put a double (or triple??) loop after th triple flip.... that didn't work out. She looked distracted and not focused throughout the whole thing.... she put no effort into the chreograohy, esp in the begining and compeletly left out the double axel after that freak fall. very unlike her.

also she looked MUCH taller and looked as if she has gained weight. I wonder if she suddenly grew and that has been effecting her jumps?

What a bummer for her. It was difficult to watch her skate that program. While I admit to not being the greatest fan of her skating, she seems like a really nice person, and I hope she will come back strong next season!

I thought her presentation was lovely, though it was unusual for her to miss so many jumps. And I just LOVE this LP from her

Does anyone know how tall Kimmie is right now?

Her bio on the US figureskating page states 5 ft 3" but it looks like last year's picture.

Kimmie had a dismal performance at the Japan Open. The first fall was really strange and really set her up for a bad skate. She looked pretty embarassed in the kiss and cry. Good thing the season is over.

Taht performance was not her best.
but she got more mature.
And she landed 3F-3Lo in the practice!

Still say much ado over nothing. OK, one bad performance. So what? :indiff:

I think people are making a bigger deal out of it than they need to. True, the jumps weren't there but it wasn't awful. To me, it just looks like she's tired. Isn't she doing COI on the weekends and still going to school the rest of the week? I'd be tired, too. And I'd bet that for a minor competition like this she didn't get there too early and probably had a bit of jet lag. I don't think its a question of nerves, she just needs a vacation!

exactly, well said

I don't think anyone here is making a big deal out of it, just sorry that she had such a dismal skate...

It's one of commercial and money business.
Winner team recieves 80000 USDoll.60000 and 40000 for runner up.

Nobody was perfect that night. I think Oda and Miki Ando were the best even with the mistake.

Mao's program (from youtube) had a 3A, and not much else. With the exception of the footwork sequence, she did crossovers throughout the entire program and held on to the preparation edge before all her jumps far too long. She hasn't quite made it as a mature skater yet, however, the 3A is impressive. She's a tech girl, imo.

Kimmie's errors did her in, but she did have much more connecting steps between elements. She was not out of place in this competition but neither was she at her best.

Is there a youtube of Joannie around?

so she was going for it in the competion. I hope that she will continue working on it and we will see her land them in her porgrams next seaosn. Does anybody know how much more base value you get for a triple loop at the end of a combo vs. a triple toe?

Just from memory i think its 1 point...i might be wrong though i thought the scale was 3T (4), 3S(4.5), 3Lp(5), 3F(5.5), 3Lz(6)
