Will the 2010 U.S. ladies Olympic team be...

I think it is a little to early to pick the 2010 Oly team. After all, there is still the puberty monster and/or the risk of injury. Furthermore, I doubt that Ashley Wagner (not to mention Kimmie and Emily) are planning to respond to the challenge of the newbies by sitting on their duffs and twiddling their thumbs. They are going to work harder to improve -- and may well succeed!

I think that when the times comes it will be a serious battle at Nationals to make the Olympic team. We will have a number of very talented ladies at that time. The only prediction that I can make right know is that it will be very exciting especially if they all bring their A game. I can't wait.

Certainly not Emily Hughes. But since she has dual US/Canadian citizenship, she might get to go if she skates for Canada.

For the other disciplines, I think it will be between Canada and the US with an insert from Japan, China, France, Switzerland, and if injuries heal, Russia.

um, Joe, I think we're only talking the US national team... not actual olympic podiums ;)

either way - way too soon to tell... lets just get through this season ;)

Does Emily have Canadian citizenship? This is awesome! I am sure there are a lot of Canadians who wouldn't mind welcoming her to the Canadian nationals considering the weak ladies' field in the country. Canadian ladies' is so dead that we are going on and on about Mira Leung, who would have been buried in competitions in countries like Japan and US.

It would be super nice to have two Canadian ladies in the top 12ish in 2010, that will make a lot of Canadians happy.

What about Michelle Kwan (29) and
Sasha Cohen (25)?

 :chorus:  :chorus:

Ant

Hi! Unfortunately, Michelle will be definitely "out", but Sasha will be back to the circuit next year before the 2009 World Championships in LA as far as I am concerned.
I am not sure about her specific planning, but I wanna see her in the competition. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease!

I think Caroline and Mirai will be seventeen, and Rachel 18 by 2010??

Birthdates for the youngsters:
For 2010...
Flatt will be 17....(7/21/92)
Nagasu will be 16 .....(4/16/93)
Zhang will be 16.....(5/20/93)

That's old!

wow, unbelievable! so this means they are not even eligible to compete at World's up until 2010??? Or is there a rule that says if you have done well at Junior Worlds for a while you can compete at senior Worlds starting at the age of 15 ( I know Sarah Hughes had a bye like that...)? I never quite understood the validity of this age rule thing, but that's just me.....

They can compete in senior ISU Championships as soon as they are 15 years old on the 1st of May (?) preceding the competition.

No, they must be 15 on or before July 1st of the year before Worlds.

Caroline, Mirai and Rachael can't compete at Worlds until 2009. Rachael is the really unlucky one---she is 15, but her birthday was July 21st.
