JGP - 3 Vienna, Austria

My internet connection doesn't want to play the LIVE stream at all, with or without audio. If anyone is watching it, feel free to type in some notes. I'd really appreciate it! :)

I've officially given up too. It kept stopping for me every few seconds and refusing to start again:cry:. I might try again tomorrow morning. Maybe at the beginning of the free dance few enough people will be watching...

Same thing was happening to me. I found that if I killed WMP, and restarted it, it would buffer and play me 3-4 seconds of choppy video, and then get stuck again. It was getting too frustrating for me. :(

Rachael just finished. She stayed on her feet and I really liked her performance! She still needs to work on some things but she's got plenty of time to perfect the program. She seemed thrilled at the end too. Maybe yesterday she was affected by jet lag?

I can't hear the announcer well at all but I think he said she's in first!

Rachael 1st, Musademba second (few falls) and Jenni Vähämaa 3rd (popped and underrotated jumps).

What did Jeremy Ten miss in the SP? He's ranked below the 07 Can. novice silver meallist. Samuelson/Bates in 2nd is a surprise too. Did they fall, or was the deduction for a long lift?

Evan Bates fell. There was also an amusing moment where the music person thought he was in his opening pose and started their music early.

Official Ladies' final results are up:
http://www.isufs.org/results/jgpaut2007/CAT002RS.HTM

Rachael won with a total of 154.65, which means she scored a LP of 105.02, close to her Liberty LP of 107.

Kristine is second with 137.16, which means a LP of only 82.81, a good bit lower than her Libert LP of 91. Too bad.

Jenni is third with 125.43 (LP 77).

 Congrats, Rachael!
But I wonder how come her SP score is so low, just because of jet-lag?

Kristine is also, Wow! She is also a promising junior lady.

I guess Junior GP Final must be made up with ALL US LADIES.
Isn't it awsome?

A FS score of 80 or better almost guarantees a JGP medal (with a decent SP score, of course!). Kristine scored almost 12 points more than Jenni Vahamaa, so it wasn't even close. For Kristine to score 82 with 3 falls is astounding.

Rachael's performance was wonderful. She landed 7 triples: 3S, 3Z3T, 3L, 3F, 3Z, 2A2T, 3F2T2L. She needs to work on her spins and her speed, but at this point in the season, she is looking very, very good.

I wonder if Rachael intends to upgrade that 2A2T to a 2A3T. Or maybe that's a back-up when the 3/3 doesn't go well. JGPF (and JW) should be an all-US affair again, maybe even more so than last year!

While placing 2nd at her first international assignment is fantastic, I'm sure Kristine would've preferred to have done so by doing her best instead of falling on half of her jumps... But with a silver, she'll surely get a 2nd JGP assignment to prove herself next time!

Thanks for joining us, KeineZeite. Wecome to the forum. I hope you will find the "time" to....post often, post long!

She already has two Lutz's and two flips in her program, so she can't do a second triple toe if she hits the first one. It would be amazing if she had the presence of mind to throw in a 2A/3T after missing her 3Lz/3T, but pretty risky to mess with the program like that. If the fisrt combo was scored as a 3/3< she would be out of luck in any case.

I doubt if she would want to risk it, unless she trained both versions of the program.

Chuckm, thanks for the details.

Rachael did what was expected of her. The 7 triples are there to give notice to her competitors in the US Nats, that she means business for a podium spot.

Kristine did very well in her jgp debut. It will keep her and Mirai up on their toes for future events.

Big surprise: Jenna Vahama continuing Finland's push in the Ladies.

Good competition.

About Kristine Musademba, she has come on the scene like a slowly rising flood rather than a slam, bam hurricane like, say, Caroline Zhang. Kristine has always looked and skated older than her age (she's 14, turning 15 in December), even in novices. For one thing, she is quite tall already, for a skater. (5'4"). And her mature presentation style sets her apart from others her age.

Easy does it. This year, the triple flip; next year the triple Lutz. By 2010 we may find that the tortoise has overtaken the hares.

I understand that Rachael is planning to add a second 3/3 to her FS, possibly 3F3L. She could then do the 3-jump combo at the end as 2A2T2L.

That would be amazing. But why 3F3L instead of 3F3T? Surely 3F3T would be much easier since she has the 3Z3T and 3F2T? I mean, she would get a little bit more base mark for the 3F3L, but it's harder and riskier. Very few ladies do both 3/3T and 3/3L.
