During Thursday's Friends + broadcast previously unseen on-ice practice footage, filmed back in February, was shown. Unfortunately it's not available anymore (a fan had uploaded a clip on instagram but then took it down again). Kana and Dai were already skating on deep edges in hold and I'm impressed how smooth they looked overall after just transferring to Florida. :eek:

The Japan Skating Federation announced provisory dates for the upcoming season's national competitions. The ones of interest for Kana and Dai:

  • Kinki Regionals: Oct 1-4, Osaka (Rinkai) (no spectators)
  • West Japan Sectionals: Oct 29-Nov 1, Kyoto (Aqua Arena)
  • Senior Nationals: Dec 23-27, Nagano (Big Hat)

Thus, I strongly believe the areas such as sports and/or entertainments will not disappear no matter what. Those who do it, or those who watch it regardless, WE just want it greedily. Through these activities there will be another masterpieces, another stunning plays and performances. Hopefully ALL of them will be there next summer. :)

Small addition re. Dream room contest: When they were asked to describe their own dream rooms, Kana replied she'd love to live in a place with a large walk-in closet. Dai revealed his ultimate ideal is a flying house that can withstand natural disasters. :thumbsup:

We have several reports from Dai's annual Seibu Gas talk event, which was held virtually today. One important information relayed by Dai-chan: He thinks that the programs Kana and him were given are wonderful and that they will be kept secret until their debut (presumably at Western Sectionals):

I believe that Dai and Kana will have to quarantine upon entering Japan. They will probably
be heading back to Japan soon.

Quarantine Information:

All travelers entering Japan, including residents and dual national citizens, are required to take a PCR test at the airport and self-quarantine for 14 days. In some cases, travelers may be asked to quarantine at an airport facility until test results return. During the 14 day quarantine period, travelers are not permitted to use any form of public transportation, including taxis, trains, and domestic flights.

Those are very sensible quarantine regulations. Early on, there was a lot of confusion about Canada's regulations, and whether newly-returned people could take domestic flights to their homes. It turns out they could; the people who were sent home on charter flights from their cruises were then hopping on domestic flights to reach their "quarantine" locations. I think that is a terrible idea. And they wonder why nobody (except new returnees) wants to take domestic flights!
