Kana Muramoto (村元 哉中), born 3 March 1993 in Akashi, Hyōgo prefecture, Japan, and Daisuke Takahashi (高橋 大輔), born 16 March 1986 in Kurashiki, Okayama prefecture, Japan, are an ice dance team, representing Japan from 2020 to 2023. They announced their partnership in September 2019 and retired from competitive skating on May 2 2023. They continue to perform professionally as an ice dance team.

The team are the 2022 Four Continents silver medalists, the 2022 Japanese national champions, the 2022 Denis Ten Memorial Challenge champions and silver medalists at the 2021 Warsaw Cup. Kana and Daisuke are the first Japanese ice dance team to win an international ISU competition. Daisuke is the only competitor to medal at the Four Continents Championships in two different disciplines.

Kana competed in ladies' singles until the 2013-14 season before she switched to ice dance, competing with Hiroichi Noguchi in the 2014-15 season and from 2015-16 with Chris Reed. Kana and Chris ended their partnership in August 2018. With Chris Reed, Kana is the 2018 Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2017 Asian Winter Games silver medalist and a three-time Japanese national champion (2016–2018).

Daisuke competed in the men's singles discipline until he retired after the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. He came out of retirement on 1 July 2018 and resumed competing nationally in men's singles until December 2019. He is the 2010 Olympic bronze medalist, the 2010 World champion, the 2012–13 Grand Prix Final champion, a two-time (2008, 2011) Four Continents champion, and a five-time (2006-2008, 2010, 2012) Japanese national champion.

Kana and Daisuke trained at the Hertz Arena in Estero, Florida, USA, with coaches Marina Zueva, Johnny Johns and Ilia Tkachenko (and formerly Oleg Epstein), starting in February 2020. They were affiliated with Kansai KFSC (Kansai university "Kaisers figure skating club").

I'm re-posting my own posts from Dai's fan fest about Kana & Dai sighting in Floria. :)

This Marina Zueva interview by Maxim Trankov is mostly about Tarasova/Morozov, but also shows Hertz Arena in which Dai and Kana starts training.

EDIT:
Kana and Dai are already in Florida. A student of Alper Uchar, who now works in Team Zueva, has been tweeting in Japanese. She is very surprised because she suddenly got so many followers! She may post pics with Kana an Dai taken by Alper later.

EDIT 2:
She posted a pic with Kana and Dai in her blog entry. She is an adult skater who began skating five years ago, and has been leaning ice dance for four years and free style for a year. Kana and Dai were talking to three Japanese and Ilia Tkachenko when she saw them, so Ilia may be directly involved in their training. She asked Alper to take the picture. Because she was so excited even in her lesson later, Alper said to her "I'm also famous in my county as I'm the first figure skater representing Turkey in Olympics".

Another lucky Japanese lady who lives in Florida got to see Dai and Kana.

Translation:
"OMG Japanese stars are here!!!"
"I watched them practicing the same part over and over again for about two hours, they are working on new technique, it's so cool"

Thank you, I added the link to the intro post!

Brought my posts over from Dai's fan fest:

It was revealed that Kana was in LA with Daisuke when his SP was choreographed:

https://twitter.com/AkiAqui/status/1180126978768195585

The Olympic Channel published a short interview with Kana and Dai from their press conference on the 29th. They say to motivate themselves to work hard they're aiming to compete at the Olympics. :dbana: Kana joins the long list of skaters who look up to Dai-chan. She says she loves the unique way he expresses himself and that he is her idol in skating. (She's gonna make a lot of people jealous by getting to skate with and be close to him on a daily basis from January onwards. :p)

The person, who posted the pic of herself with Kana and Dai at the Hertz Arena shared another picture with Kana's permission. Apparently Kana, Dai, Evgenia Tarasova, Vladimir Morozov, the group's ballet instructor Yelena, Marina's mother and two ladies I am not familiar with went to a Beethoven recital at the Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church in Naples, Florida:

Practice report by our dear resident rapporteur :)thank:)! Rough translation:

They practiced with Massimo Scali and Marina that day.

Kana and Dai are featured in Figure Skating Life's special issue "Daisuke Takahashi Next Step":

A few nuggets from Dai's latest appearance on Shizuka's "Friends on ice + α" talkshow (27 February 2020):

https://www.facebook.com/MuramotoTakahashi/posts/126023462293239

  • Kana & Dai were supposed to leave for the US one week earlier but Dai needed to refresh himself after the hectic schedule, so he asked Kana to wait one more week. During the week, Dai sold his car and got an international driving license.

  • Seems like Charlie gave some advice to Dai at Kanku rink, like eat more carbs and build up his body.

  • Dai thinks spins are the most difficult element for him. He thinks lifts should be okay if he once gets the knack.

  • Seems they tried some spins with Meryl and Charlie. Dai said where to place the axis of spins is very different from singles since you do spins with your partner, not alone.

Hello deedee. I have been thinking of you recently and wondering how things are with you and Japan.
It is pretty crazy here in the US as is around the Globe. Right now my family and I are well
and social distancing as much as we can.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISUKE!!!! :cheer::hb:

April 9 was Marina's Birthday and Kana is wishing her a Happy Birthday on IG, the photo is from February.
She also says that she and Dai are safe and healthy and trying to stay positive.

 I have been extremely anxious to know if they're safe and healthy ... Very very relieved to know they're doing fine in Florida. Thank you.

Let's try to be calm, positive, and caring each other while keeping 'social distancing' in mind as best as we can during this very difficult time for everyone, shall we. :ghug::ghug::ghug:

Thanks for sharing, demarinis. I'm so relieved to hear this (finally!)

There was another KanaDai appearance on Going! in celebration of the show's 10th anniversary on the 4th of April. After recalling the first athlete interview on the show, which was with Dai after he won Olympic bronze and his world title, they played a recorded video message from Florida. I assume that the footage wasn't recent, but rather from February or early March.

Amon Miyamoto, the director of Hyoen 2019, organized SING FOR HOPE project to cheer up people in Japan. Many Actors, singers, athletes, celebrities sang "Look Up to the Sky" (a.k.a. the Sukiyaki song). There are four videos, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, and Dai is in the Autumn video, from 0:25.

Apparently, it was filmed recently as his hair has grown. It's really nice to see him healthy and well.
