I wouldn't say they were underscored. They just weren't overscored, but Kamilia and Daria, were....

Kamila will somehow end up scoring 180 and Daria without any quads will somehow end up with 160. I kid. But not really. This is just ridiculous.
Now that just makes me angry. The girls are all working so hard, pushing themselves everyday. They deserve better than this kind of judging! If you‘d told me two years before, I‘d ever complain about Sasha Trusova being underscored, I‘d have laughed you in the face. And yet here we are. 2020, I guess...?
And Kamila has a lead of 10 points. That‘s about as much as one quad. Include her higher PCS + all the bonus points on spins, the fact that she scores the same (even higher...) on her weak combos as Sasha does on her good ones, and you have a situation where she literally cannot lose unless she falls like 3 times and Sasha is completely clean.
In a way I‘m glad I didn‘t watch live today - I‘d probably have gotten even more angry.. but I‘ll be watching tomorrow and boy, if they really put Sasha third even if she skates well, I‘m going to riot. But I agree, it‘s quite likely - Daria just has to skate relatively clean and silver is hers.
I guess I just became too used to the dumb scoring in domestic comps that I now think real scores are underscored haha. I guess I kinda agree with you
I get where you're coming from, but what I'm trying to say is that Sasha's spins, while good, are not indisputably +4 GOE as Kamila's and Daria's are.
Alionas 89 was too high and Kamilas 82 was just about right. Both deserve to be in first place in their respective competitions. I'm just glad there are skaters skating well after such a brutal offseason and not being able to train properly.
The best I am hoping for is them having some decency and not moving Usacheva into second. I mean, I like her skating, but come on. I don’t understand why the Russians want to risk backstage dealing on the soft scores when they can clearly push for the same deal that men get with Trusova. Like, sure, people grumble she is not this or that, but no one (sane) argues about her jumping ability far ahead of the field. Why do they chose the hard way of bickering over spins and spirals?

I would say Trusova is worth more than that. Valieva's jumps are overscored - she really deserves 1-2 GOE lower than Trusova on each (landed) pass, and of course she has lower BV. She deserves higher spin GOE, no doubt - say + 2 more on each. I'd tie them on steps GOE. Then we can say Valieva deserves slightly more PCS (say the 2 more points here that she got)- but I think this puts her below Trusova by 3-4 points.

Better question, why have they suddenly decided to heavily back a junior who until the end of last season was barely skating clean in competition, doesn’t have any of the difficult elements, and is perpetually an afterthought over her more accomplished teammate, instead of an established senior who is far above the field in technical ability, has improved leaps and bounds in all other aspects of her skating, and is practically unbeatable when clean. Seriously who is the more promising candidate for Olympic medals here? I don’t understand why they feel the need to torpedo their most promising athletes to promote a current junior who was barely in any Olympic conversation until about 6 months ago
