Totally agree with this. Sometimes we forget that a 3A is a very risky business. Most ladies that do 3A's only land them 50/50 at best. I think we all got a bit spoiled by Kostornaia last year. She didn't fall on her 3A once, which in itself was incredible. She had it called underrotated 3 times though (and she was a bit lucky it wasn't more often) and in those cases the value of the 3A dropped sharply. But as she did three 3A's in her programs we kind of forget that, we only remember her clean 3A's.

But overall, 3A's are superhard, and to see someone land them as consistently as Kostornaia did last season, we might never see again, perhaps not even by Kostornaia herself.
Rika landed her 3A consistently last season. She landed all of them. I think one had a step out. But thats it. 22 attempts, 22 landed IIRC. Compared to the 18-19 season that is a big improvement.

Oh I didn't remember that! Thank you for reminding me. Yes, I do remember she was more consistent, while Tuktamysheva was a bit disappointing compared to the season before.

When it comes to Rika, I always think of how she lost her World medal back in 2019 because of that darn 3A.

Not surprising to see that the top skaters shined today:

Sasha : I like her sp, she’s more mature and lyric but if she’s not confortable with the 3A, she should skip it. She can still win without it because it could cost her a title

Dasha : she was stunning today and I like her dress, the colors are beautiful and she skated beautifully. She improved a lot.

Kamila : as always a beautiful jewel on ice. Nice spins, good extension. She delivered today as expected from her.

you can despise Eteri but her girls are classy on ice.

I strongly dislike her 3T technique, but all of her jumps were squeaky clean, spins were great, and I saw quite a few musical moments from her, which I haven’t seen much of before. Still, I think there’s a lot of stiffness in her body despite her incredible flexibility, and she often has choppy steps and choreography that isn’t executed very well. It’s so strange to see Kamila’s skating skills being compared to someone like Aliona, who (to me) is leagues above her. I don’t even think Kamila has the best skating skills, and certainly not performance quality, of her competitors at this competition.
I love your comment!

On a slightly unrelated note but something that caught my attention again today: Someone has to teach these coaches how to wear their masks properly. If your nose isn‘t covered you might as well not wear one at all! Other than the coaches of Team Tutberidze, I didn‘t see a lot of responsible ones in this regard. Imo, that‘s just unnecessarily risky - how hard can it possibly be to put that thing over your nose?
LOL! Yes, the mask situation was chaotic to say the least. And most of those with masks was fingering them all the time, and removing them, or just pulling them down under the chin (which is like wearing your dipers around your knees). The thing is, if you are touching your mask all the time it just makes things worse as it is more likely you get the virus through your hands.

This is why the Swedish epidemiologists (somewhat controversially, well VERY controversially) has not recommended masks.

I counted maybe 2/3 people other than team Tutberetzi who wore masks properly. Although I think Danny G may have had some trouble keeping it on properly.... Maybe it's because his head has shrunk a lot (reference to warm up with mirrors) 😂😂😂

But Trusova is improving the components, while also having way more difficult technical contents than the other contenders here.

Wake me up when judges will start to look at the lutz edge on all Tutberidze skaters.

Wake us up when Trusova performs her "way more difficult technical content" clean. Had she landed the triple axel without the disruptive step-out she would have scored better, but that was the comment last year in regards to the quads.

Rostrebnadzor, the national health authorities, have issued a serious public warning to Megasport for allowing violating of the rules (as we have seen ourselves on the live streams and the rest of Russia on nationwide TV), but apparently haven't informed Gorshkov, head of FFKKR, in person.

The hall speaker announced the rules many times, and it seems the spectators in majority obeyed them. Many skaters too, but some trainers weren't really serious. For masks to be effective, they have to be kept on at all times, not touched with your hands, etc etc.

Tomorrow, there will probably be more masks, is there any reason not to wear them in the K&C for instance? Masks can even be fashion item ....

Off topic here, but the issue with compulsory wearing and proper use of masks are serious. And recent findings have found children and teenagers to be very profilactic in spreading the virus without falling seriously ill themselves. With Russia breaking new infection records daily, it is only a matter of time before more skaters, trainers, staff and officials get infected.

Yeah because she had the correct edges because of Eteri 😂😂😂
It is true though. Sasha never had a Lip before, now she has. It's very strange. I don't know if that is just a coaching thing or something she naturally has fallen into.

We'll see tomorrow how her Flips goes, maybe she will even try a 4F?

TSL forecast with DL

He will probably crush Valieva and Trusova.

He will probably praise Usacheva (well, not praising really as that is something out of his vocabulary, more like, less negative).

It was a nice gimmick for the test skates, but who else has had enough of the constant showing of coaches all the time? By now I don't need to see Eteri/Plushenko's facial expressions when their skater is jumping. Not that it matters since they have to wear masks. And then now they have decided to start showing other skaters warming up while the scores are waiting to be announced for the previous skater.

Yes, the Plushenko exposure got me a bit confused at times, I think it was when Shulskaya was skating they showed Plushenko the whole time. I was thinking, is he her coach?

Kamila has more musicality in her little finger than Aliona in her entire being.
You are the same person who said that Alina has “no artistic bone in her body”. :scratch2:

Actually Sasha had a Lip in some competitions last season - I even made a comment about it here on GoldenSkate, but of course I was brushed off at the time.

Really? I don't recall that. Do you remember what competitions it was?

I agree about the lip today, it was quite clear in the replays and I thought that it was a lip even before Grishin confirmed it. But claiming that it's because of Plushenko..... I mean.... Come on
