The interview with Tarakanova also sheds light on the difficulties the Snow Leopards figure skaters had at that time, and perhaps still have. And on having to skate your big triple-triple combinations with a dozen 6-10 year olds underfoot, which often is the case at commercial rinks because that's where the money is being made and ice comes by the hour.

This new commercial club "Army of Skaters" seems to be taking off nicely. There are quite some more of these private academies and clubs not associated with a traditional sports school, but most do not reach higher than development in the youngest children and pre-teen skating of lower competitive levels. Because they don't have the necessary resources and lesson plans for choreography, general and special physical exercise etc. to really develop skaters to national team level. Sof'ya Fedchenko's Triumph Academy is working very hard with Alina Gorbachyova, and might be the first of these small academies to have reached this level.

PS: Alina yesterday did an hour long interview I've linked to from here: Alina Gorbachyova's FanFest #1 under Selected Media.

Can you start with figure skating at age 7?
How to get into the National Team of Russia?
The influence of parents on your sports career?
Who sews the best dresses for figure skaters?
How to show the proper edge in your Lutz's?
and other secrets of Alina Gorbachyova ....

Edwin, you've missed a "n/н" letter in her patronymic in both Russian and transliterated versions.

Said this a Plushenko hater. Why I'm not surprised??:D But if anybody read Nastya's interviews then would know this. Otherwise this is not a polite sentence it is a specific statement for those who are wrong . A polite sentence would sound like this: "he is a great athlete an Olympic champion I had privileg to work with him..."
She praised Eteri was she polite about her, too? Or your opinion is to Plushenko solely?
The world isn't divided into Plushenko fans and haters, yannow.

Well maybe you could try not been a complete jerk about it.

The nastiness in this thread disgusts me. You make it impossible to enjoy figure skating.

I wish more than anything I could ignore this hideous thread and all the toxicity in it.
I would say you are contributing to it. And you can ignore them - it's quite literally a feature.
I don't understand why we can't just be happy when we see a 23 years old female skater can land in quad , even if that is not from text book? This is amazing! Who can do that in this age???
The thing is people are happy. I in particular am delighted and would love to see her land one in competition in a clean skate! When Liza first landed one last year I seem to remember there being lots of praise as well. However, (1) she's not the first person to have a quad and (2) I'm not sure why her age should mean she's excused from critique of her quad/technique. It quite literally happens to everyone who attempts a quad. Anna's quads (and 3Lz), in particular, are scrutinized all the time, especially by one poster. I'm not sure why you expect Liza's quad to also not get the slow-motion treatment by posters. Literally every skater's jumps are analyzed and criticized partially due to people's strong opinions and biases but also because quads are no longer a novelty. I feel like people have a tendency to get personally offended and overreact to someone saying anything remotely critical about any of their favourite skaters when (1) it has no bearing on your personal life in the slightest and (2) it's okay for someone to have different opinions than you. People are allowed to be critical of your favourite skater/their technique/their skating skills/their jumps/their spins/etc. Just like people are allowed to ignore other people's opinions haha. People are allowed to be happy when someone does something impressive but to assume others should be is a tad presumptuous especially when it's not like quads in general mean everyone is happy.

Narrator: They didn't know.
I would argue that's true of Eteri and Mishin fans too. I sometimes think people decide to like or dislike skaters and their techniques purely by their coaches regardless of what is actually put on the ice which is, quite frankly, a little sillly haha. In that case, are you actually figure skating fans, or merely figure skating coaching fans haha??

Who will be commenting in Canada? Ted Barton or the CBC regulars, perhaps even the ISU international feed commentator?

Here is Yelena Kostyleva's routine from today's Ice Forum Cup:

* Short Program 57.61 : 3F, 2A, CCoSp3, StSq3, 3Lz+3T (+10%), LSp3 (BV 25.22, GOE 7.02, PCS 25.33)

I have never been divided when it comes to Plushy. He has devoted his entire life to skating and for that, he has my total respect. He was very much like my gal Maria B and he gave his fans Hi-5s and smiled and said hello to all of us in several languages. He has been a huge supporter of Russian skating and continues to do so through his coaching.

Just give those adolescent girls some time. Tarakanova has come to her senses again, Kostornaya is a teenager in a hormone rush, she'll come around eventually. One can only hope the people around her now know how to handle her when tantrums happen ...
you act like these girls are 7 year old entitled, spoiled brats.

And it seems to me that what Nastia says are actually late regrets. He wouldn't want to leave Plushy. But that's what happened ... Too bad! I really like her

Kostornaya

Kostornaya about working with She-Lynn Bourne: “She's obviously better than me, so it was hard. I realized that I still have a lot to learn

Russian figure skater kostornaya spoke about her work with Canadian choreographer Bourne

“I tried the quadruple salchow, but now the task is to cleanly roll the programs and come out with three triple axels. As soon as I have the opportunity, I will try to learn the quadruple. But for now it is in the plans. We are working specifically on what is needed now.

Working with She-Lynn Bourne? Everything is absolutely different, right down to how she performs the elements. And it looks different, and she skates clearly better than me. Therefore, it was hard enough for me to repeat after her, because this is a level. And mine is not so big. I looked and realized that I still have a lot to learn, ”said Kostornaya.
