No, I don't think there is any skater that everyone truly loves, everyone has different tastes.
With Scott, I was never a fan nor a detractor of his skating. His reactions to Urmanov in 1994 and B&S in 2002 as a commentator were just ridiculous and out of line. As a commentator he has far too much of a bias , and far too much of a tendency to root for his favorites at the expense of other skaters. I think that has colored my opinion of his skating.

It's just as well that I enjoyed my personal fandom of Kwan quietly in front of a TV, totally oblivious of GS and other venues where her lovers and haters battled it out.
It's hard to imagine that I might have loved Michelle less, but I can just about imagine that after being repeatedly provoked to defend her, I might have gotten confused over whether I loved her skating more out of faith or fact. As it happened, I got to enjoy her skating in solitary bliss.

One thing I have never understood is this. If someone wants to build a shrine to Michelle and burn incense while eating chicken and singing Rach of Ages, so what? Why should that make other people mad?

In 2004 she was one of a number of athletes that endorsed the current president of the USA in the election that year. I'm sure this means that a fair amount of people dislike her presumed politics*.
*the point here is not anti-Bush, had she endorsed Kerry this would make (different) people dislike her politics.

I see...Even though I'm a huge fan of hers, I don't think she's quite the sweet angel that a lot of people think she is. I'm not saying she was a mean person either. I think she was just an average human being, who at times succumbed to the pressures imposed upon her and let her skating rule all aspects of her life. She discusses in her book My Sergei how she had no girlfriends her age because she was always training all the time (which I think probably affected the way she related to people), and how she always felt bad for Sergei because of her mood swings on the ice. I think she often felt inadequate around him, who she felt was much more friendly, outgoing and patient than her, but I don't think she should have. I think they were the kind of doubts everyone goes through when it seems like your partner is a much better person than you are. Also everyone goes through their good and bad days, and I guess in the end we should give her credit for having endured the biggest tragedy anyone could go through.
oh and I was just a little curious...what made your coach think that Gordeeva was being rude?

No, I don't love Ryan Bradley. I don't even like him at all. There are at least 20 skaters I can list above him.

Sometimes, people with inadequate English abilities can make English speaking people feel that they are rude. I know it from my own experience.
